What is it in your opinion?

"Hunt the wind", "Use coverscent", "Dress up in camo", etc..

I don't know that rifle hunting makes much difference but I can tell you that if you don't have a good wind while bow hunting all the cover scent and camo you can afford is not going to help you.

It's okay to let a deer walk, even if there's a possibility that a neighbor will shoot it.

I grew up hunting with a family friend, and would call him my hunting mentor. One evening, after recounting the day's hunt, and telling him where I saw deer, and where I didn't, I asked where he thought a good place would be to hunt the next morning. He said, "Go where the deer are."
Best deer hunting advice. Period.

Wind followed by to much pressure on the same hunting spot is a close second.

It's ok to kill a doe for meat rather than killing a 2 1/2 yr old 8 point who barely meets AR's.

You can't eat horns, so Bucks are better meat deer as they are bigger usually.

Big difference between "hunting" & "finding"!

If you're looking at tracks too often you're seeing where the deer were, not where the deer are!

My definition of underrated also means it's not as common as tips shared most often.

My contribution to the discussion is to hunt during the middle of the week as often as you can. The deer just always seem to know when the weekend arrives. Hunt during the middle of the week and you might be amazed at how much you see.

amen to that

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Look at the horns. Decide if it's a shooter, if so do not look at the horns again. Focus behind the shoulder and control breathing. Exhale, pause, squeeze, bang, buck! Oh....and wind.

Not during hunting season - properly scout, find, pattern deer to have some idea where they are/travel in your hunting area(if you don't know).

During hunting season - spend as much time as you can hunting with the wind in your favor.
