I have 35 acres to hunt in kerrville area and want to start a food plot. I know that is to late this year but what would be good to plant, and how big should I make the plot.

it's not too late. Make it as big or small as you want. We planted a mixture of oats and iron & clay peas.

last year we had a small plot that was a last minute deal. We spread a bag of birdseed out and then ran the plow over it. It turned out great.

If the ground is sparse, you can disc it one way then the other. If you can plow then disc it, that is best, opens up the ground for water ,fertilizer and easier on the new roots..

I would add some "Bob" oats or feed oats to your mix, softer grazing then the wheat, but doesn't handle extreme cold as good as wheat.

You can just broadcast it , (use higher pounds per acre) then run a drag over it. I have used anything from fence panels, to used tires wired together. the biggest mistake made , is planting to deep, Try to keep the seed sizes near the same, small seed needs less depth. I have planted large seeds by light discing, then broadcast the smaller seed such as clover on top then use the drag.
