I just made some stock out of the neck and spine of a wild hog I shot. I was wondering if anybody else has tried this of even made just regular pork stock? How did it turn out?
While I was roasting the bones and cooking them in the water they a little different smell to them. Not sure what it was just smelt different. After straining it, I tasted it and it was fine. I was thinking about doing the same with a deer spine I have and see how it turns out.
What are some of the stocks that ya'll have made?

I am also interested. Ingredients? Process? Etc? I know the basics (I think), but would like more in depth detail to making stock.

Here you go, made this a week ago, it was rockin! http://www.texashuntingforum.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/1140947/Roast_dem_Bones#Post1140947After trimming all the meat off the hindquarters place the bones on a sheet pan with a couple of quartered onion, 1 bunch celery and about a half dozen carrots. Roast at 450 or so for about 45 minutes or until things start to turn very dark brown. Remove and throw everything in a large stock pot, bring to a boil and then reduce to a very slow simmer. Leave simmering uncovered for about 8 hours (I also put in any scraps of meat I had sinew and all) Once that's done strain all you meat and veggies out, chill and remove any fat from top. Your good to go.

When I smoke a Turkey, I always boil the leftover bones. Strain it pick out the good meat. Add the leftover turkey meat, and add veggies to make a smokey turkey soup.

Everything Tres cooks tastes great. Thanks man, one of the few good things I've gotten out of being in this business so long.

On another forum they said something about maybe getting mad cow from the spine bones. I had never heard of that but was wondering if any of you had?
