Currently I use it for several other loads/caliber a and curious if anyone has run this behind a 130 grain in .270. I usually shoot a 130 grain sierra. Just curious if it performed as well as or close to some of the more "traditional" 270 powders.

Varget burns a little fast for optimal performance in the .270/130 gr. H-4831 is the classic powder, as per Jack O'Connor, but something in the range of Re-22, MRP, 4350, IMR4831, IMR7828, etc will serve you well.

RL-22 is the king of .270 powders.

RL-22 is your friend here as posted above. Varget is a GREAT powder and very universal but when getting into the larger calibers it takes a backseat to better suited powders. I have tried it in my 280, Was pretty much a wash.

Only large case I have used Varget in is 30-06 and those were garand specific loads. I use 4350 or 4831 in all of my other 06 or 06 based cartridges.

No sir I haven't loaded with Varget in .270win; but as others have stated RL-22 especially when loaded with 140gr. bullets has never done me wrong.

Thanks to everyone for the replies to the question - I currently load 4350 for my go to load, but also have RL22 available as well - had not done any research on that for the .270 yet - thanks for the help guys.

Just loaded 55gr of 4831SC under 150 gr Berger VLD's for my home built savage 270. It was the load that Walt Berger suggested a few years ago when I built this gun and it shoots great. I wanted something pretty temp stable and the Hodgdon powders provide that. I have 4lbs of RL22 setting next to the H4831SC waiting on some 165gr Matrix bullets. Hoping they will stabilize in my 1:10 twist barrel.
