Either one should serve you just as good. I would buy the one that feels better to you. They are the same company now The Freedom group/ cerburus (sp). I have both and they are good.

A big debate will ensue shortly I imagine, but both are good to go. The same people who wrote the "chart" are now slandering spikes tactical and recommending S&W so take all that with a grain of salt, and buy what fits your budget and you like.

That group owns a metric ton of gun manufactures now, Mossberg and many more.

Yes, a DPMS 308, Rem 308, and Bushy 308 ORC are all the same, just rebadged. The Bushy is improved though, its barrel is chrome lined and had middy gas system. They are all tack drivers though. Our SASS was the only rifle that got 4 out 4 hits at Tiger Valley at 800 yards in the low light sniper match.

also looked at the s&w, but again i know nothing about any of them.
200-300 price difference really isn't a factor. i just don't want to have any trouble.

They are good too, I would go with whatever you like the best. If you plan on shooting heavy bullets I would go with a 1/7 twist for 62 grain and up. SW makes this barrel now I believe, and its standard on BCM, Spikes, CMMG, and colt.

Most people don't shoot match ammo, so a 1/9 twist will be 100% adequate for 95% of users, and will be more accurate with the lighter ammo as well.

I'd say S&W, they have the $100 rebate or 5 free mags plus I saw one at the gun show recently and after the rebate it was only $750.

Between DPMS and Bushmaster, I would say DPMS.

Between the two, neither. I'd choose a S&W, if you can find a competitively priced Colt, Bravo Company or similar, even better.

I personally have two Bushmasters, they are fine guns. However I would have no problem with a DPMS.

DSS Im suprized you seem to discount the chart.Facts are facts wether they come from the military or the homless guy on the street... Thats all I have to say about that...

To the OP, DPMS is not a "bad" rifle but there are better options for your money and the Bushy is of better quality. Check out Spikes they are superior to both at around $750 and for just a bit more you could get yourself a BCM .

I carry Bushmaster everyday with me on patrol. Have never had a problem with it. That said, I don't believe there's enough difference one way or the other. So I say 6 one way, half-a-dozen the other.

I did not dismiss the chart, its just it comes from M4C.net and thats owned by Grant. There is an intense problem between them and Arfcom right now over how they treat SPikes now. All the moderators on that sight are slandering spikes now and recommending SW LOL. I am actually fighting for spikes. With that said they are not looking at things objectively, they won't even allow many of these people to advertise on there sight. This left a sour taste in my mouth. So in summary the chart is a good tool, buts its fanboys and supporters are biased on there information. This taints anything that comes from a sight were moderators BASH a good brand like spikes. In addition DPMS carriers ARE all properly staked, the owner proved this on ARfcom, I can get links etc. The chart is old and outdated, thats why Rob is making a new one. In addition DPMS and others laugh hysterically about the testing. They are batch tested, and he said its rare that one fails.

The thread I referenced in that thread. I am eastTXhunter on arfcom and snipers hide

Major LULZ here http://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=64114

I'm actually doing an AAR/write up/pics FOR spikes on a match I have coming up in 2 weeks.

BTW GR Tactical was kicked off Arfcom for many reasons. Thats what great about arfcom the bullcrappers are outed fast. Which is more than I can say about TOS (the other site).

DPMS myth busting thread http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=2&f=30&t=157433

The chart is a good referance, but no longer FACT. May have been when it came out years ago, but not now.

While Im well aware of the crap going on on those two sites I dont get too involved in the bs cry baby crap and could care less what most of them think or feel. Its like a damn soap opera. There is good info on both sites you just have to weed through some bs and haters. While the "chart" absolutely needs to be updated it is still some good info and gives you an idea who does what.

DPMS may be stepping up their game but I know for certain the 3 that came through this week were NOT "properly" staked.

Once again Im not saying DPMS or any other brands are "bad" but there ARE better options out there for the same money. up

I have that spikes middy and it shoots very well. It is my first ar and I chose the spikes after a lot of research. I have been pleased with mine.

For the original poster... today they are very close... I'd prefer Bushmaster mainly for resale value...

DPMS has had issues, but seem to be quality today.

We sell a lot of different brands, and both of these are fine...

My family members each have one, and we have a mixture of Colts, Bushmasters, SMith's and now a couple DPMS's...

The one I carry and bet on, is a Bushmaster... but those are all fine.

Never mind I did some digging myself. I'll stick with my Rock River's over the two in the original post.
