I was just thinking about two of the biggest ranches in Texas and was wondering which one you'll thought was the better of the two for taking a record book deer. The King ranch has commercial hunting and we all know what kind of deer come off of there. The Waggoner on the other hand has no commercial hunting, but gets hunted by a handful full of people every year. Both amazing ranches, but which one do youll think has the biggest B&C walking around?
My opinion would be the Waggoner, because thats 500,000 plus acres that has literally no hunting pressure.

I have only been to the King ranch.... and had 2 booners within 30 yards of me on the trip. Too bad I was on a nilgai/javelina hunt.

I believe the King Ranch still offers a $25,000 buck to hunt!

I would say the Wagoneer. Theres no pressure what so ever and deer on that place die of old age. I would hate to see what it would cost for a hunt or a lease at the Wagoneer.

Consistenly putting book deer down, definitely the king but ranches like the wagoneer and 6666 are hard to beat when it comes to "natural" trophies as well as absolute monsters....everyone knows what the king has.

Atleast I'm not the only one...after a quick google search I have found that it is located "up yonder" above the Texas mason dixon line.

The King Ranch is so big that it has some areas with book deer and some areas with average deer. My Company leases 46,000 acres of it. The Ranch demands that you keep incredibly meticulous records and participate in their deer management. They allow us a certain number of bucks within different scoring ranges. Shoot one in the wrong range and they penalize you the next year. I've seen our records a few times and the biggest usually score around 140. Not a bad buck but not what you think of when you think of the King Ranch.
Practice doesn’t make perfect. Practice makes permanent.

I'd say Wagoners. I can't believe so many have never heard of this famous spread. It was the home of Poco Bueno, one of the most famous studs in the Quarter Horse industry. Oh well, I guess there's lots of things I don't know about city life.

Matador has opened up hunting as well. I was reading an article about a hunt where they rattled up 40 bucks in a single day. Normal is 10 to 12. Sounds exciting if you got the dough.

If someone offered me a hunt between those 2 ranches, I would opt for the Waggoner. I just think the terrain and hunt would be more exciting.

Wagongoner for sure ! Hunted property that backs up to the Waggoner and because they generally do not allow any deer hunting, there are monsters on that place that die of old age.

I am very up to date on the management at the ranch, and dont see how yall only shot deer in the 140's, 140s walk around like fleas down there. I was a guide on THE KING last year and i would def say the king produces more and better deer. i cant even explain how many booners i saw!!!
