Well me and my buddy michael and I got into some more today. Although we started out with a rough morning.

We got there early as usual got set up with over an hour till legal. Then I realized I had left my calls in the truck. bang So we took a couple flashlights and hung them on the mojos in case anyone else came while we went back to the truck. Got my calls and everything is good right!?

Wrong... about halfway back the motor on the boat starts running like shat and just dies for no apparent reason, and then it won't start back up. So I take the cover off to see if I can find something wrong, and the oil gauge is clear-empty realmad Now do I try to get it running and go hunt, or try to get it running and go back to the truck and walk in and get my decoys later??? It's about a 1/2 mile walk and we had 3.5 dz out.

Well I got 'er running and decided funk it lets at least get some ducks, and we'll quit early. 8 am rolls around and we got 5. I look at Michael and said let's pick up the gear and hike to the road to see if we can bum a ride to my truck.

Now with my newly made Texas rigs that are nice and easy to pick up I decided to carry my gun. Sure enough we are about halfway through picking up dekes and a flock of about 30 comes right at us. I dropped 2 and he got 1 to finish out the limit banana That sure took my mind off the boat. Especially when I saw that Cali had marked 2 of them and she made a great 75 yd blind on the third.

Then we left our gear and headed to the road. We were able to flag down the first guy that came by and he was nice enough to take me to my truck.... got some oil, fixed the boat, and still had a great hunt

Been there done that with the boat and having trouble. But what fun would it be if it always went right. Good shootin and way to earn that limit. Sounds like yall deserved it.

Yep you should have, and called me. You could have joined although as said it wasn't ALL good. We didn't see near the numbers today, but still had plenty of opportunities. Mostly pairs and a couple of groups of 4 besides the last one. We are even seeing some big ducks too.

Way to go, looks like fun!

Teal #1 has yet to hit the water for me this year. Probably going on Friday.

+1 on the big ducks. This morning I instinctively pulled up on some gadwalls that came out of nowhere and then saw that they were too big before pulling the trigger.

Not sure... I bought the pre made ones that Academy sells. But I cut the loops off to slide the line through the decoy, and that way I could make some bigger loops that are easier to work with.

Watch out for those weights they come off. Make sure you put a clasp right before it on the line. Any pressure on the weight will cause it to slide off the line. I have had this happen several times.

Dang I also forgot to say that today would have been Coco's 4th bday. The last 2 years I have hunted on her birthday since she has left and I've gotten a limit both times!
