Just curious those that have hunted or guides/outfitters what is the mythical mark of a monster blackbuck similar to 40" mark for axis. is it realistic or possible to ask for a 25" straight tape for blackbuck?

We’ve killed several blackbucks in the 24-25” range over the years. I’ve personally taken one years ago just under 25”. In my opinion anything over 20” is great. 22”+ is mega giant. Especially since the bad freeze. Before then you had a slight chance on finding something 23” or better, now they’re more marketable as a breeder to a ranch, and worth more to them as well. As an outfitter of 24 years I get asked or told a lot by some folks I want a say 40” axis, 25” blackbuck,300” typical whitetail. I’ll have to say I giggle or laugh every time. Because WE ALL do!
Those types of animals are the 1% of the 1% of world class trophies in my eyes. If you do come across one I’d expect an extremely high price tag on them. If it were me I’d become a regular customer with an outfitter or a handful of them who tend to take those upper tiered animals and express your desire to take those animals. Have them put you on a call list if they become available. I’ve done that for years, and it works out great for everyone.

Do you picture of some of those 24" range BB? I got my first BB this past year and am proud of it but he is no giant by any means. I am not so much in the market to hunt a blackbuck anytime again soon but just seen a few post recently on here and got me thinking what was the ceiling for BB.

Straight tape, I’ve seen two that I would saw were over 25”. Out of thousands of blackbuck I’ve seen just two. Maybe seen a couple more that would have gone 22”.
Most shooters are between 18-20”
I’ve never seen an axis that would go 38” let alone 40”.
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.
