Who shoots one? Give me some feedback. RE; is it reliable? What set up are you using? Any Con's?

It generally sucks. I've run Glocks, 1911s, Sigs, so on. They're all front heavy, and have to be tuned to some extent to be reliable with recoil spring changes, etc. But a buddy just got a Fly 9 which seems to be light enough to actually be kind of fun to shoot. I'll try it out and see.

I run a Omega 9K on my Glock 19 & 34. No issues whatsoever and no tuning required.

THIS^^ Really wish I had gotten the Omega 9K. I have the Octane 45K and have ran it on CZ Scorpion, Glock 9mm's, and 1911's never a hiccup but it is LOUD, louder than my suppressed 10.5" 5.56 at least to my ear anyway.

I bought a Shark Precision 9mm can. The purpose was to do triple duty on my 357 bolt action rifle (shooting subs mostly), 300BLK, and 9mm pistol. I bought a Springfield xdm as the handgun host. I only had to screw it on the pistol and did not have to tune anything. Ran like a champ from the get-go. That said, the novelty of shooting a suppressed pistol has worn off, and now I mostly shoot that pistol un-suppressed. The can gets most of it's use on the 357 bolt action rifle. It does see use on the 300blk as well, but most trigger time is the bolt gun.

They make a handgun too large to carry and very front heavy. Other than shooting one on a range I don’t see much of a use for one. I’d get one rated for a magnum rifle because that’s where it would end up for me.

Pia to carry without some fancy high dollar holster. The out of balance feel is terrible

I have one of these from CRYE Precision and have used it once. Only around $40 when I bought it.

not worth it in my opinion. i have 2 9mm suppressors, an octane and r9. Even with subs they are not that quiet on a traditional handgun.

Now, i use my 9mm cans almost exclusively on mp5 clones, that is where its at.

my need is mostly for shooting inside my home in a stressful event. save what little hearing i have left. Maybe inside my vehicle too

I think the Beretta 92 series is supposed to be one of the best guns to suppress because it doesn't have a tilt barrel. Might be something to look in to

Osprey 45 here. Super quiet on an FNP45 tac, Sig P226, and M&P 45. I rarely use mine. Just a range toy. Unless you get a short can I don't see much practicality in shooting a suppressed pistol out of your vehicle.

Yep, you’re over thinking this one Buzz. I really wish I had bought another 30cal can instead of a pistol can. Basically a novelty. In the heat of the situation I don’t think you’re going to care much if the gun you need is suppressed or not. I’ve also heard lots of operator dudes like John Lovell say that when you’re in combat the report of your gun doesn’t bother you and and he doesn’t have any long term effects from it and he has been a door kicker for a long time. I have mild-medium tinnitus from not using ear pro in my youth. I actually went for a range day last Friday and had my ears on top of my head sighting in a 10.5” AR 556 so I didn’t have my suppressor on. I forgot to put my ears down and lit a round off. Holy hell damn ears rang for 2 days. I’m very sensitive these days.

Suppressors on pistols are best in movies...it is definitely a novelty item. Every once in a while it is fun to break one out at the range after you have completed your real pistol practice. I think you'll find that the only pistol that makes sense and is still easy to handle is a suppressed 22lr.

The best use for a pistol suppressor is on a Pistol Caliber Carbine (PCC), such as an AR9, CZ Scorpion, etc. As for home defense, a PCC is also better than a handgun because of its magazine capacity, more real estate for equipment (optics, lights, laser, etc), and most importantly two hands to better handle recoil and weight of weapon.

My PCC uses 32-round pistol magazines ... that can be used in a pistol. That would make a pistol the same capacity. My PCC is in 9X19. So is my DC pistol that holds 15 without an extended magazine. I think that's enough.

It suppresses well, but depending on what ammo you are shooting you get a lot of crud blowing back in your face from that open slide. I couldn't get mine to run without a booster, even with 9lb recoil spring.

I've got threaded barrels for Glock 26, 19, and 17, Beretta 92, and and Sig M18 in 9mm and Glock 21 and 1911 in .45 ACP. Only one that doesn't run well is the M18. So far have run a YHM R9, REX Silentium MG7 .458 and a HUXWRX RAD45. Just picked up a Griffin Resistance 9 but haven't gotten to the range yet.

They are fun range toys, and I've carried the Glock 21 suppressed in a shoulder holster when hog hunting. But they aren't really practical for every day use. Rifle cans are much more useful.

r9 on my glock 19 and echelon with 147s is dumb quiet, yes its heavy no it isnt practical but its fun at the range!
