I was looking for a Blackbuck hunt for my daughter and started talking to Bobby (G Ranch), we eventually set up to go this past weekend.
I called him on Friday as I was worried about the weather, but he assured me the rain would not get in the way of a successful weekend hunt, I was a little skeptical but decided to go ahead and go.
We got to the ranch on Friday night, I had mentioned to him it had been a while since she fired her rifle and she keeps it in a soft case, so wanted to make sure it was still on. He took us over to a range they had set up and we took a couple shots and made some small adjustments.
We unloaded all of our stuff into the lodge, it is a very nice setup! The ranch is beautiful, rolling hills with trees in the backdrop, animals coming and going from time to time.
Bobby and his wife fed us dinner and we spent the rest of the night by the campfire swapping stories.
Saturday morning we got up and got ready. My daughter really wanted to do a walk/stalk hunt, but it was too rainy and muddy so decided to drive around in a side by side and hunt that way (she only wanted to blind hunt as an absolute last option). So we headed out. We chased various blackbucks for hours. Light rain came a went but for the most part, cooperated. I did not realize they don't stand still, LOL. They were constantly moving around and/or taking off. We came up on bucks fighting a couple of times, which was fun to watch. She passed on a number of them because of no real shot, not what she wanted, or whatever. We saw all kinds of animals while we were chasing the BB's around the ranch. Finally we came around a corner and there was a nice one all alone and facing us. She took a neck shot around 160 yards and dropped him. He was 20 1/2 inch straight tape and just a beautiful animal.
We go back to the lodge and quarter him out and hang out for a bit. A few hours later the storms rolled in and hammered the place, so glad we got it done in the morning.
That evening we sat by the campfire again until dinner. After dinner, we decided to go in and the 4 of us played cards for hours. Laughing and just having a good old time.
Sunday we got up and had breakfast, then packed up and headed home.
It was a great trip, I am glad Bobby talked me out of canceling, as I almost did. I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for a hunt.
