more than likely it was a task force they put together...idk how they do it down there with the locals but up here we have troopers from all different counties converge on one area and they target any and all violations but usually they are criminal interdiction focused type stops. And DPS has been so stretched thin with the border and capital assignments that local Criminal Interdiction Units are moving around and working different areas. North Texas CIU works all over from Smith County to Parker County to Grayson and Rockwall with a MOU from all the DA's in the counties they go work in. We just recently formed a VZC District Attorney Criminial Interdiction Unit. Greenville/Hunt County have been part of a High Drug Interdiction Unit along I 30 for a while, think they still are. Covers most of I 30 from here to Texarkana. Local PDs, County and DPS are all part. I used to pick up a lot of traffic on my scanner. Tickets, searches, busts. One day a few years back I saw six vehicles pulled over by various LEOs between Greenville and Sulphur Springs. , Yea that’s the NTXCIU…they go all over to counties that their members are from. They cover Parker county, Collin, Hunt, Rockwall, and smith for sure. Possibly more now. 30 East has been like this for decades, to me it doesn’t seem as bad as it was in the 90’s and early 2000’s. Back in 1996 Bam Morris was busted in Rockwall county with six pounds of pot and was cut from the Steelers after pleading guilty. 6 pounds now just gets dumped on the side of the road or placed into evidence with usually no charge. Not worth our time and the Lab wont even test marijuana anymore. I had a trial last week where a guy threw 20 grams of meth out the window and 6 ounces of weed when i lit him up and the weed charge was dismissed because it could have been hemp. No testing, no proof...
