Anyone tried out the new Ruger Super Wrangler single action six? Looks like an attractive piece compared to a Ruger Single Six at over twice the price!
Quality? Accuracy?
It's not what you say, or think, that counts. It is what you DO!

I aim to get the non-Super version in black with the 4 5/8" barrel at some point. I don't need the extra cylinder and I hate the other colors. My only Single Six is a boxed 1965 model that looks new so I'd rather have one I can shoot.
Pass the gravy.

I have one that I just put some Altamont grips on. Trigger is decent, and I hope to shoot and chronograph it this week. I have heard the .22 WMR tends to be more accurate than .22 LR out of these.

Nice grips! Was thinking about Hogue grips if I buy one of these but may go with this one. Thanks!

They fit the gun really well, and fill our my hand too. There is a two-four week delay when ordering. I am glad I waited.

I've been keeping an eye on these. Knowing Ruger, they'll make a wide variety of models beyond the three out right now.

Definitely interested. I haven't seen one in the wild yet. When Academy starts carrying them, I'll probably buy one.

I’ll prolly get one. I like shooting .22’s and need a good single action revolver
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I've been keeping an eye on these. Knowing Ruger, they'll make a wide variety of models beyond the three out right now. Add the 29 models of Ruger Wrangler (non-Super) and there are a lot of choices...unless you have to have the 22WMR and adjustable sights ... or the 5.5" barrel. If I had to have all that, I'd buy a second hand Single Six for a little more. The regular Wrangler in black 4 5/8" barrel can be had for less than $200 on sale plus tax.
Pass the gravy.

I can be out the door with tax and some ammo for under $300 on a new Super.

I paid $300 for mine, as I like to support my local brick and mortar gun shop here in Sweetwater when I can.

Thanks for the input. I just "pulled the trigger" (as they say) and ordered one from G4G Guns for a total price of $242. Will want a grip and that's about it. Will report back after the first range trip (I have no idea how fast they will get it.)

If it was in stock on their site. It's usually just 2-3 days.
I have a few things waiting for me there.

I have an original wrangler that sits in the safe. I hate loading it, the cylinder just free spins and it drives me nuts. Prefer my rough riders.

Tiny price to pay for adjustable sights and 22 mag I see about $60 more plus tax which isn't a lot but the Super only comes in 6.5" and I personally like the look of the Cowboy sights on a SA 22. Funny since my collectible Single Six is a 6.5" with adjustable sights and two cylinders. A decent used New Model Single Six is $400 or less and made with better materials but likely not enough to make the price difference. SS's can sell for big bucks but those are rare, special editions, very old, or odd-balls. Ruger made so many the prices are $250-2500 on the used market.
Pass the gravy.

I was just going off your $200 number. The super wrangler can be had for about $240.
I didn't realize you could get a used single six for 400....that's tempting too

I ordered the silver from my LGS last night, will be out the door for under $300 with a box or two of ammo. I haven't seen a nice used SS convertible under $500 in a while. For my use there would't be any value in paying the difference.

Well, I took the Super Wrangler to the range today along with a couple of rifles and the chronograph, but the wind at Avenger Airport here in Sweetwater was gusting over 30 mph. The chronograph stayed in the truck. I was in a bit of a hurry to shoot just because of the wind, and the sixgun took some sight adjusting but I got it pretty centered. The lower target (with wrists over a squeeze bag) was shot with Winchester 40-grain JHP .22 WMR. The upper one with the tighter group was with CCI Standard Velocity .22 LR. These bulls measure 4 inches in outside diameter, so considering the circumstances I am encouraged that with more concentration under better wind conditions, this little Ruger will shoot very nicely indeed. And this was just one type of ammo in each cylinder. By the way, someone had left these targets, printed from this Michigan DNR Web site. Good targets! https://www.michigan.gov/dnr/things-to-do/shooting/printable-targets-to-bring-to-the-range

Interesting. May have to pick one up sometime soon.

I'm sure that when I shoot it again in much less wind and take my time -- and find the ammo it likes, it will be a 1 1/2-inch gun at 25 yards, rest. I can't shoot irons any better than that. The trigger is crisp, but a little heavy so I may do a little polishing.

Messed up on the 6.5 vs 5.5". Yes, the Super only comes in 5.5".
I found a super for $260 at Bud's, the most reliable new gun price source in my opinion. I see Impact Guns has "limited stock" at $239 but I am unsure if they are trustworthy. And I was referring to sale prices (in person) on the regular model at less than $200.
GunBroker is chock full of Single Sixes SOLD for way less than $400...even three screw models in decent shape. They'll not be going down in the future and with these new choices, now is the time to get one of those too if you have a hankerin'.
Pass the gravy.
