Around noon they were on two non-cellular cameras. I am not amused. One had a transmitting collar. [Linked Image]

Yep, it happens. Had some and a person show ip one night on one of my cameras, sent it to GW and he got to the bottom of it and warned the guys they were tresspassing but the pic was just a flashlight so there was no way to press charges or anything.

In years past i have had a dude on horseback on my place, some dogs, and even had a hog dog show up to my house while people were there. They said it was a sweet dog but i was freaking out in the stand that the dog would attack or snap at any moment. The owner was training on neighbors property to the south, and they came and got him pretty quickly.

A near weekly occurrence on my property.

I can think of no other group (hog-doggers) more irresponsible and openly willing to break trespass laws in order to enjoy their 'sport'.

Maybe its different other places, but this is a common theme in Deep East Texas. I have NO respect for them.

I have no problem with the idea of hog dogging. Any way to put pressure on hogs is great in my mind. The issue comes with the inability or unwillingness for the handlers to keep their dogs off of other people's property. On top of that, having the audacity to cross fences to retrieve their dogs without even asking permission. Question that I have, are there some handlers that actually do keep dogs off of neighboring property? May only occasionally losing one? And if they do lose one, are there handlers that actually do ask permission every time before retrieving their dogs?

Hog dogs have been on my property. The owner should have checked on whether I was using leg hold traps.

They look like coyote dogs. I had a guy running similar dogs off the road by my place last year. The dogs ran across my neighbors 1/4 section then onto mine. He claimed to have permission from a land owner on the opposite side of the road. The dogs crossed onto 2 other properties and back again before he finally retrieved them.

The dogs are most likely wearing a collar with the owners name and phone number, like most all hunting dogs. Catch the dog and call the owner and tell him y’all have a problem.

I just wish you would do some hunting with hog dogs a few times. The issue you note will become very apparent. the Fugging hogs don't honor fencelines do they? And even finding a landowner in a reasonable amount of time can be impossible while you are worried about a valuable dog or group of dogs being hurt by feral hogs or getting lost. It is odd how logical thinking can escape many peoples minds.

What kind of world do you live in where you think it is "logical" to trespass? No wild animal honors fence lines. That doesn't give me the right to trespass to pursue what I am hunting.

The dog owners have every reason to worry about their dogs, if their dogs are where they do not belong. They should worry.

No sir they do not, that is why I shoot as may as I can.
If doggers were really worried, they wouldn't let them on land where something bad could happen to them.

Another option for dog handlers is to get permission prior to the hunt…be proactive about it instead of just trespassing

I hate the attitude some take that “its the dog’s fault, they crossed the fence so i just gotta go get them”

No its hour fault for not controlling the dogs properly and not getting permission to hunt that property prior.

You dont hear helicopter hog trips saying “well we just buzzed and shot up that property cuz thats whee the hogs ran to…”

No they know exactly where they can and can not hunt and dont go over properties that are off limits. .

Those valuable dogs get caught in snare then the owners will learn a valuable lesson, keep your dogs off property you don't have permission on.

The issue is not the hogs and it’s not the dogs either. Handlers not training a reliable recall or not respecting private property rights enough to jacknife their dogs is the issue. It is one or the other, and oftentimes both. From one dog man to another, you already know those things though.

Hog-dogging is an expensive and time consuming way to make a lot of people mad while being an extremely inefficient method of controlling hog populations.

we are now about 2,000 acres and in prime stupid territory for lowlifes and scum to come visit.

a couple months back I caught either a spotlighter or hog dogger (we had pics from late that afternoon) at 0200 cruising fm 100 at about 15 with flashers on, told me they were "sightseeing" (his exact word). told them that if they were looking for dogs they were in the wrong county, turned around then went back the way they came at 15 with flashers.

I have fired warning shots close to dogs I catch on property, there are only 2 that I know and allow, others I try to run off. have shot twice to warn the human scum to gtho. worked pretty good both times.

like said, it is not the dogs, it's the humans.

Well, I don’t plan to shoot humans or ever shoot close to them. As for the dogs, I have not seen them recently. I’ll say this, and be serious about it, if I catch hog dogs running on my place, I don’t want to hear any BS about “hogs don’t care about fences, so the dogs don’t either”. It’s my place, my fences, and I’ll do what needs to be done. I’m a jolly old guy, but sometimes I’m a bit short on jolly.

Rick, I f you're telling me that it's impossible for hog doggers to call of thier dogs when they get to a property line, that's not going to go very far in talking me into supporting hog dogging.
