This is the third coyote my Buddy has sent me photos of since he started calling about 9:30 this morning. This mature three legged coyote that had escaped a trap had a full belly but could not resist the FREQ. Pecos Hagler really knows how to hurt a fellow... Adios, Gary

What sounds, or who’s sounds are you using for the FREQ?

We are using Cottontail Distress sounds predominantly. Some guys say that you can't call coyotes with anything but vocals as there's too much calling pressure. This is simply not true when using ultrasonics...a rabbit distress sound going to 50K Hz is not the same sound as a rabbit playing at 17K Hz. When I sit down to make a call, I want something to show up, coyote, cat or fox. If I am using vocals I eliminate the chance of calling anything but coyote. Adios, Gary

I understand that, and agree with cottontail distress as that’s 99% of what I use.
I was more curious who produced the sounds. Doing research before I spend the money

Gary, what sounds do you find successful on pigs? Also, how far away are you generally placing the call from your location?

I have had hogs and javelina come to cottontail distress when calling for coyotes and cats, but if concentrating on hogs, I like the pig distress sounds. I generally have the call 30-40 yards away, depending on how big the opening is that I am calling. Sometimes in South Texas, I am calling across a pipeline or intersection of two senderos so have the call less than 20 yards. When calling wide open terrain, I generally put the call out further as I am trying to keep the critter's attention away from me. Many times in this wide open, I am "sticking out" as it's difficult to hide. Adios, Gary

I was more curious who produced the sounds. Doing research before I spend the money All of the sounds have to be recorded on our ultrasonic recording equipment and to my knowledge, we are the only folks doing that. We capture wild rabbits and record them in the wild rather than bringing them to a studio. Since getting ultrasonic sounds is such a challenge, the downloads of any new sounds are free to our customers. We are constantly adding sounds as they become available. Thanks and Adios, Gary

I generally start out at about volume level 8. If calling big open country like the Texas Panhandle, I might kick it up to 12 when bucking a little wind. If calling when it's too windy, I will go to 14-15 level. When something gets close and trying to coax closer, I go down to three. Thanks, Gary
