This year I'm on Aetna (CVS) health insurance. Like so many others, it's worthless; the website will list providers on the plan...their helpful customer service in India reads (or tries to read) the website back to you and...any provider you want (in my area) doesn't, in actuality, accept the plan. Oh, there's a protocol for getting a provider accepted, but none of the provider's little undereducated girls are going to even attempt to understand those hoops, much less jump through them. Some see their job as telling folks that need health care to go away, but I digress.
I get a call while I'm driving today, the 2nd or 3rd one I've received, wanting to schedule my "Healthy Home Visit". (I've received several emails and texts as well.) She has a script, apparently for numerous possible responses, and will NOT take "no" for an answer. Never rude, just persistent. I explained I see my PCP regularly. 'Doesn't matter. I asked if it is a requirement of maintaining coverage (even though I know they'll "no longer offer" my plan come December. She said "no", but... I finally had to just hang up.
Yes, I have a very healthy (no pun intended) dose of paranoia, but, I don't want them in my house. My gut tells me they just want to snoop around to validate them cancelling me. 'Sounds very close to Social Services wanting to come in.
Thoughts? Anyone else get these intrusive calls? Actual care in this, my beloved country, is still the best, but the health insurance industry is a total cluster. 'Heard Pfizer wants a chip in you to make sure you're taking your medicine. This is getting surreal. Pass the tinfoil please.

We are both on social security and Medicare. We get the healthy home visits which is ok.

Yea, I'd decline their "offer" too. Nothing to be gained in letting them in your home.

Do you get the Yearly Wellness Visit? It's a medicare visit to give your doctor some more money. They ask you a lot of questions and perhaps get to do some testing to keep the money flowing into the doctor side of the health industry.

No Medicare here. 'Turn 63 next week.
A while back I read a summary of how the health insurance industry started in the Imprimus paper Hillsdale College puts out. It was indeed started to get money to doctors and hospitals. BCBS was the first.

The AMA got on board with the ACA when they got what they considered their fair share. Managed care is all about the money. The health part is just a side effect.

I recieved a offer for heathy home check as well. Very instantant. I see my primary care twice a year.
I also decided not to allow home check. Figured what they didn't know anout my life style the better. It was an invasion of our privacy.
If the 2nd amendment was written just to include guns for hunting, why is there not an amendment to protect fishing poles?

They are getting paid for doing home health visits. The more they do, the more money they get

The only way they’re getting in my home is if I’m in medical distress. And even then, they’ll be escorted by my wife or I.

I am 70, so Medicare for five years. Never been asked - or even heard of this, but it would be a hard "no" from me.
A Democracy is when two wolves and a lamb vote on the dinner menu. That is why this country was specifically not designed as a Democracy. We are a Constitutional Republic.

Medicare has a Yearly Wellness Visit. Basically a money laundering operation to get AMA endorsement of the bill that had to be passed to find out what was in it.
