Richard, great area. I have hunted between Tulia and Happy every year for the last 20 years for pheasant. You get a hardy recommendation from me for the area

In Memory of my 36 yr old nephew Paul Dobbins that lost his fight to cancer... Never GIVE UP !!! He fought it hard and was determined all the way to the end to beat it.

I will be in Dumas the second weekend of Dec. goose hunting, might hunt some pheasants in the afternoon, but if all things fail with my stepsons school's playoffs,,,I think I will be in Gruver on the first weekend.

TexasHeat, if you ever step on one of those 747 sumbucks as they're coming up it's alot more intense than it seems. After you clean the mess out of your drawers from the initial jump you'll wonder how you could ever miss something that big. It's a pretty awesome experience.

Cod, hey do not get me wrong, ditch chickens is big fun to hunt but at this stage in my life, that is allot of time and effort and money for just two birds. Now if I livied a short drive to some good phesant hunting, that would ne sweet!

Hi gents, new to the board. I have been going up to the Panhandle for the last 14+ years. My wife grew up on a farm between Canyon and Hereford. All of her family,on her dad's side, farm the country from Hereford to Vega (I-40)to the New Mexico state line. I just love being around her family. Laid back bunch of good old farm boy's. I see where some of these guys don't want to make the trip for two birds. It's two per day. It's worth every penny if you ask me. If a man has never had the chance to hunt pheasent, then he is missing out on something exciting. I will admit, I have gotten a little bit lazy these past few years, my favorite areas to hunt and not have to do much walking is, the tail water pits. You find one on just about every corner of a farm and the birds just flock to them. Anyway, I was up there last month and went over to the grain elevator that my wifes cousin runs. I think I saw somewhere around 40 birds in the 8 mile drive. While talking to Dennis (cousin), he said this year is looking like it's going to be awsome. They had 3 hatchings this year. He said he is seeing the same numbers all the way from Nazereth to I-40. He has a small farm down at Naz. Anyway, I plan on being there this year. I missed the last two years do to work commitments but not this one. Good luck to all who go. I am headed to Ft. Davis Muley hunting next week hopefully I will be able to brag and post pics.

My buddy who goes every year to S. Dakota for the opening week says the Blocker is the hardest job to get...only because he is about 25 to 35 years younger then the rest of the group...LOL....I am still on the waiting list to get in this group....hopefully some of the older "blockers" will drop out
