I have been using the ultrasonic caller for three years now and am seeing predators react strangely to the realistic sounds. Three years ago, Mike Connor, Steve and I witnessed a cottontail mama run to the caller and sit down within three feet of the speaker when I switched to the baby cottontail from a grown cottontail. She stayed there until I walked down to pick up the caller. Good thing is Steve captured the entire sequence on video for CARNIVORE. To date, I have witnessed (on three occasions) coyotes getting my stink off the call when getting downwind, leave there running and come back to the caller when I turned it back on. I have never had a coyote come back to the call once they got my stink. A couple of weeks ago, I was calling in the Panhandle when walking into make a call, coyotes began howling about half a mile away. This triggered coyotes to my left as they began barking at us. I was disgusted as I knew the coyotes to my left were about 300 yards away and had hear us drive in. I decided to use a canine pup distress and on the first series, I heard a coyote "yip" two times while running to call. I have never heard this in my life. A total of five coyotes responded on this stand. Week before last, I was calling about 9:30 AM when a bobcat stepped from the brush 30-40 yards from the call. He was carrying his head really high and walking straight legged and fast. When I clicked the baby cottontail on to coax him in, he broke running and appeared to bank off the caller. I have never seen a cat respond to a call that aggressively in the daylight. Using the ultrasonic caller that produces a full spectrum of sound has made calling predators a new game. Adios, Gary

We are having a difficult time securing semi-conductors to build put into production. I have a few scattered with various field testers and others being tested for drop tests and other government tests. I am hoping to have in full production this summer and it should have been two years ago. Since we have some much money tied up in the R&D on this product, the only place that you will be able to purchase one will be from Burnham Brothers for at least a year or two. Thanks and Adios, Gary

This is like post ban automatic rifles...lots of cool stuff that you can't have.
I know supply chain disruption is real and you're trying, Gary. Hopefully you'll be able to make enough for the demand

Gary, is that the new BURNHAM BROTHERS electronic caller? Yes Sir, most likely it is going to be called, FREQ pronounced "Freak" which is also a play on "Frequency"...What this caller is all about. We are getting 45,000 to 47,000 Hz on the top end where all other electronic callers peak in the 15,000 to 17,000 range. To date every distress sound or vocalization has gone over 40,000 on the high end. The first baby cottontail we recorded went over 90,000 Hz!!! Adios, Gary

Six patents in place along with the name "FREQ" trademarked. Trying to get enough semiconductors to build 5,000 units. Looks like Aug-Sept. Thanks for your patience, hope we get them on the market before I go broke... Adios, Gary

Well I've hunted with Gary using both of his callers and can say from experience there's a hell of a difference between them. I watched the cottontail incident and witness a Jackrabbit do the same thing at the same spot, had a yote come in and that kinda screwed things up. Since using the new caller we're calling in more cats than before, last trip we had a cat come in just a few minutes after Gary shot a Yote. I haven't seen a cat or a yote veer off once they started coming in.
Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

Gary, You still have the original list of names on a waiting list? I bought another FoxPro X24, but am chomping at the bit to get one of these. I put my name on it back when you first said these were coming out.

Microchips are still in short supply but we have been told that we should have some in October. We increased our PO to 5,000 units. I am putting the finishing touches on the packaging right now. Adios, Gary

So the sounds are recorded with special equip to get the high frequency so I’m assuming the speaker will be able to output high freq? I’m looking forward to it.

When I started this project five years ago, I thought that all I needed was the ultrasonic speaker. After using this speaker, we found that the ultrasonic speaker does well producing sounds from 15,000 Hz to 50,000 Hz but cannot produce the low end frequencies. This required us to build a speaker designed to reproduce the extremely low frequencies down to 200 Hz. This speaker works in harmony with the ultrasonic speaker, phasing out in the 12,000 to 15,000 Hz range as the ultrasonic speaker employs as frequencies increase. At my age and after firing thousands of rounds of ammunition, I cannot hear frequencies above 10,000 Hz. Therefore, I only hear sound produced by the specially designed low frequency speaker located on the bottom. Adios, Gary

I assume this is still just the prototype and not an actual production caller? Are you still looking at Oct as a release date?

Cost is going to be much higher than what we originally thought two years ago. At this time, I am estimating $1,500, most of this is due to the cost of semiconductors and the cost of R&D over five years. Adios, Gary

Perhaps you can explain how you make up for this ; Taken from this; https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Engineering_Acoustics/Outdoor_Sound_PropagationI just don't see how those very high frequencies can travel very far.

I am no scientist but we do know that the silent dog whistles are effective to approximately 500 yards in most conditions. I feel the reason that so many coyotes hold up in the 200-300 yard range when using standard e-callers is because they are not hearing the high frequencies that occur in nature. Adios, Gary

Adios, Gary A very useful observation to point out, indeed. Ten years ago I did some playing around with some 40KHz ultrasonic transducers but for a completely different reason. I was trying to locate faulty power line hardware on power poles. I mounted a transducer at the focal point of a parabolic dish about 1ft in diameter. Built up a buffer amplifier for the transducer so I could connect it to the input of a RFSpace SDRIQ Software Defined Radio. This allowed me to view the spectrum and AM demodulate what the transducer was hearing on a small laptop. Well after playing around with this device it was quite interesting to hear the amount of ultrasonic noise emitted by automobile, ATV and bicycle tires as they move over roadways. This ultrasonic noise drives dogs crazy enough to want to rip a tire off it's rim. As a kid growing up there was one street all us kids would not ride our bikes down. There was this German Shepard that would grab our bicycle tire and shred it. That kind of event you never forget but never understood why at the time. I suspect it's the high frequency sound that allow predators to precisely locate their prey as well especially with their stereoscopic detection. With this device I was also able to hear bugs buried underground. I suspect hogs can hear in this frequency range as well. Sound like a load of fun project. Let's go hunt sometime.

You are so correct on most everything producing ultrasonics. They claim that mice and small rodents scratching under deep snow actually produce ultrasonic sounds that enable foxes and other predators to locate them. If it wasn't for this ability, the fox might not survive in harsh winters. If memory serves me correctly, hogs hear over 40 khz, not sure if they use their noses or hearing more. I guess it depends on what they are hunting. Adios, Gary

Supposed to have approximately 2500 in here about the end of the month. I won't be able to satisfy all the demand but at least it's a start. After nearly 5 years of R&D and 6 patents, I am ready to see a return on investment. Thanks for all your patience! Gary

Yea, I am about broke!!! All of the money spent on R&D and attorneys with no return is a killer. At one time last year I realized that I had four different attorneys working on four different projects...Yuk! I agree that I want to see them in the field as they are definitely a gamechanger. I have been using them for three years and yet to have a coyote warning bark at me. Adios, Gary

You all had better have a box full of tools for coyotes. No one thing has ever or will ever be the crown jewel.

2 trappers, multiple helicopters, thermal guns, monoculars and a new thermal drone. Found them the first time I took it up. Trappers got one on a gun but then I think they got boogered. Hoping next time I can just pattern them and then find them morning the helo shows up.

Yep coyotes are the smartest thing I have ever tried to hunt. Seems as though if one gets educated they tell the whole world about it through their primitive networking. If it don't sound, smell or taste right then a red flag goes up. I have called and have them go down wind say 100 or more yards of me with their nose up in the air sniffing and their tongue out licking the air. One aspect no one ever talks about is their sense of taste. Same goes for deer or hogs. Long after you have left your stand and your smell has faded they can taste your presence for a long time.

I will have a few in next week and hopefully 2500 before Christmas. It will not be enough to satisfy all the demand but it will help a little. Thanks so much for your patience! Adios, Gary

I’ve been hearing this “next couple weeks” song and dance for way way too long. I was really excited, still am but wish we could just have a definitive timeframe. Like a march 1 guaranteed launch date for sales or something. I feel like the cartoon donkey with the carrot stick hanging out in front of my mouth.

We better have it in the next month or two as I am tired of trying to explain all of the difficulties we have encountered when trying to do something that has never been done before. Five years of R&D, 6 patents and Covid has made me an old man. Adios, Gary

Retail price is going to be approximately $1,500. We are releasing a small run in a couple of weeks and if all goes well, about 3,000 in late October or early November. No one wants this product on the market more than I do as we have four years and approximately $800K in R&D, etc. I am more than ready for a return on investment! Thanks for all your patience and I promise that you will not be disappointed. Using the FREQ has made hunting exciting again as you never know what or how a critter is going to respond. Called two bull elk the other day after shooting three times at two coyotes. It just makes a difference when you are able to replicate the actual sounds naturally produced. Thanks and Adios, Gary

Not to steal this thread away, but I wanted to mention that Gary and I sat down for a podcast and we talked a lot about the "FREQ" as well as Gary's career in the field, the other week.
The podcast will air on Monday, July 31st!
Will be posting links here and on the video page.
Just thought y'all would enjoy hearing more from Gary and learning some more details about the FREQ.

Thanks George, I really enjoyed the visit. I read a little about Bob Lemmons that you wrote about and found it interesting that your Great Grandfather was named Erskine. Ironically, my Great Grandfather was named Erskine Outlaw and he lived near Moore, Frio County, TX. He made his living by catching and driving unbranded cattle out of Mexico. I am sure the two "Erskines" paths crossed as both inhabited the same country. Adios, Gary

We are beginning to ship the FREQ. The price is going to be close to $2,000. Please do not call as we are going to try to ship callers to the folks who have been on the waiting list the longest. We will call or email you when we have a FREQ available for you and if you want it, we will ship it ASAP. Thanks so much for your patience, this has been a long and difficult process. Adios, Gary

Our waiting list is old and very long. We are working through it as quickly as possible. I hope to ship 200 by week's end. We have folks on our waiting list that have been there for 5 years, we owe it to them to be contacted first. Thanks for your patience. Adios, Gary

Got the link to buy the FREQ today and went ahead and pulled the trigger. It was more expensive than I was planning on, so I hope it’s as good as advertised. I know it says it comes with 200 sounds — it would be nice to have a listing of what categories at least so we know.
Also, will there be a site to support additional sounds that you and your team curate, Gary?

Thanks, Woj. If folks will just go to the Freqcalls.com website, I think most everything is explained and there's a short video about ultrasonics and another on "unboxing" of the FREQ showing a little about the product and what's in the box. Thanks to ALL and MERRY CHRISTMAS! Adios, Gary

Thanks for that. When I was at the website, I didn’t see that catalog of sounds. Maybe because I wasn’t on the home page after I started clicking around. I even had gone through the FAQs and had read about organizing the sounds by folder.
