Figured with the holiday coming up some of yall could post up various photos from various wars for others to see. Kind of like a living history lesson of our freedom. And I for one would like to see other conflicts besides mine.

I got a boot camp grad pic from 1968, ex-wife had some of me while in the canoe club, probably been trashed and they weren't real big on having a camera inside a submarine. 10 years, 9 mos, and 16 days.

We did not have AC in the REMF areas. The Air Force at Ben Hoa did have AC in the NCO clubs, but it did malfuntion on occasion when Army Grunts would attempt to "repair" it.

Here was soem of the entertainment that they would have in the NCO clubs, these were Filipino bands that played some half arsed music.

Man, ya'll were wasteful with that water. We barely had enough to drink. Nah, not really, we had one sonarman that took a shower before he went on watch and 6 hours later when he got off. I was port and starboard most of the time underway and could have cared less about a shower. 6 on and 6 off is a killer after a couple of days. Ya never got more than maybe 5 hours sleep at a time and half of that was usually interrupted by actual battle stations or drills, or "field day" every dang Friday no matter where we were or what we were doing.

We were trailing a Russian sub one time in the Med and the skipper said no movie that night because it might make too much noise. The next day at 1300 local time we had field day and everybody not on watch turned to to clean the boat. We had 13 vacum cleaners and they were all turned on. It took about 15 minutes for the Russian boat to pick up the high freq noises and boogey. I still can't believe some of the stupid stuff I saw or had to participate in.

We were not wasting water, the water tower was at an old French villa at Quan Loi that had rusted through. The water was cooler and more plentiful than any other shower I ever took in Vietnam. It would be about 2 month between stand owns in rear areas where there was any type of showers so we used what was available.

What sucked about this hole is that after hacking away at concrete like dirt for two hours, I sat in it for 15 mins. before getting the order to move out!

WOW....this is really cool....hope the rest of you will keep posting. This gives me "THANKFUL GOOSE BUMPS."
No service for me...tried during the Reagan Admin and no go on what I wanted, so I got into Private Security.

My father however was a Hun Pilot in Phan Rang....Spiro Pugno 352nd Fighting Bumble Bees.

Flew 300+ missions and was shot down once. I sure do miss him. Lost him in 2001 to cancer.
