Hello friends, I am looking for a little advice. I am in the process of building a very unique Camping Trailer that is self sustained and I would like to know if you feel that this type of unit would have a demand for hunters. The units are 100% WOOD FREE WALLS / ROOF / FLOOR (WOOD ONLY USED IN THE INTERIOR DOORS WITH DOOR FRAMES AND KITCHEN CABINETRY) and they are Fire Resistant, can withstand up to 150 mph (Hurricane Force) winds and has the R Value 5 times higher than traditional home construction. THE ROOF AND WALLS ARE LEAK PROOF. They can be fitted to be self sustained powered thru Solar Panels. These are Towable units allowing you to move them to different locations and they can be finished with camouflage pattern digital printing. They could be built between 20 and 35 feet in lenght. My question is. Would you as a Hunter would consider buying one if they were available for purchase? If so, what size would you think it would be ideal for this unit in length? All suggestions are welcomed.

OK, I'll go first. I put Yes, but that totally depends on pricing. I would not be willing to pay say a 25% premium for it over a comparable conventional trailer. I think 25-30 feet would be good.

So how much? That looks more like a "park model" than a travel trailer and they typically cost more than a travel trailer. I am by know means calling you out, in fact I think these are an excellent idea. If given the choice I would rather buy it once and if it is rodent prove also than you really have something.

It looks more like a construction trailer than a travel trailer or park model.
Do the solar panels power 120V?, refrigerator, A/C, outlets, etc.?? Or is there a generator for that? Propane or gas? Or is solar just for 12V, lights, etc.?
Looks good, need more info. The trailer construction may withstand 150mph winds, but it would have to be a heck of a tie down system to handle it.
Great concept.

Why spend the additional cost to camo it? It' not like you're going to hunt out of a 25 foot trailer. Makes more sense to go with a neutral, low maint (never paint) exterior. Just my .02 cents. And yes I'd buy one if it was priced at the same approximate cost... and was in the market for a trailer.

Oops I forgot to mention No Drywall neither :-)
As for the electrical, I am not 100% sure on the answer but we would like it to be 120V

There are no set prices. We have not released these units into the market place.I can only say that we would be competitive with Travel Trailers.

The idea seems good. I voted yes. However, with the shakey economy, doubt if I would invest at this time.

Ok ok ok Send me one as a sample and I will gladly use it on my lease and on a continuous basis report back my impressions as time goes by. I think that would be fair and help answer a lot of questions.

I don't agree, why would anyone that is in the market for a travel trailer for a lease buy a conventional one for the same price as one like this. I know if I was in the market, and it was close in price I would rather have this than a regular travel trailer.

sounds HEAVY. My 1/2 ton doesn't like 7000 lb. + trailers. I don't see the pic anymore, so I can't tell what they look like. I know from experience solar panels are heavy too. The idea sounds like a good one, but I'm not sure how you plan on keeping costs in the 16,000 to 25,000 range, when the trailers currently built are wood, partical board, a little aluminum and plastic.

I agree with you totally Brad, used to have one and loved it, the point I was making not many hunter is going to spend 10 to 15K for a hunting rig. That my  .

Guys, I read all of your posts because I am very interested in all of your opinions. This is exactly the purpose of this thread. I should point out that we are going to be able to compete with conventional travel trailers while offering a much more practical and durable product. If we decide to mass produce, we will be manufacturing technology never seen before that meet and exceeds health and construction standards. I agree with those that say that these are difficult times and for MOST non necessary items like this will take a back seat until we are able to see a recovery in our economy. But I am curios to see if there are any of you that think that we could actually sell some of these under the right settings including pricing.
