Because when CNN or MSNBC was first reporting the situation in China they were saying people were running out of TP and bottled water...and social media took over...the virus spread over here and around the world and sheeple though that we would run out also...so the horded it and stores ran out....then when they started closing things like schools, bars, and restaurants sheeple realized "OH CRAP! I need food"....then when the food ran out the decided they needed guns and ammo to either protect their stash or go take other sheeples stashes.....

I figure booze will be the next run.....

Yes but those are final numbers. This virus is just getting started and it aint the same as any flu no matter what anyone tells you. You have dang near the whole world shutting down for this one. In 2-3 weeks people will start to see what all the hype is about right here on our own soil. Right now its just images on TV in a far distant place. When it hits home that's when people will realize this aint the flu.

I can only speculate that all the fear is based on a belief that because the Coronavirus is 10 times more deadly and much easier to spread than the average flu virus, if left unchecked it has the potential to kill more than 200,000 Americans. This number is based on the fact that 20,000 Americans have died from the flu this season. This would also mean the numbers of those who will require hospitalization would be several times that number.

With just 109 Americans having died from the virus to date, are we expect people to start dropping like flies in order to reach the expected 200,000 mark?

Truly amazing and tiring how a possible life threatening disease has to become political, again and again and again and again and again. At first, the right claiming its just an aggravated flu, the left saying 40-50% of Americans will have it with 4.5% mortality.

Yep. You can bank on it. When the hospitals run out of room and equipment to treat them that's when all things head south. We haven't even come close to our peak yet. New York is suppose to peak in 45 days. So far pretty much everyone in the USA that has needed attention has gotten it. Its only a matter of weeks before that will no longer be the case and they will start dropping like flies. That's when we go on lock down coast to coast but by then its to late. If they want to get out ahead of this we should have been in lock down last week.

The virus could incubate 2-14 days prior to show symptoms. During that time you WILL infect others.

It’s almost twice as contagious as H1N1, mainly because it’s contagious for 14 days before people know they’re sick, unlike the flu of any type.

Someone told me that they heard the same thing on CBS 11. I tried to find something to support this but could only find a Dallas Morning News article saying that Dallas County reported nine new cases and among them were a woman in her 20's, a man in his 30's, and a man in his 60's who were admitted to critical-care units (essentially intensive care). There may have been more to the story than what I read but it may also have been sloppy reporting by someone who equated being admitted to a critical-care unit with being in critical condition, which are two different things. I am not disputing that you heard what you heard, I am just wondering if the report was accurate.
