Where is everyone going this year chasing turkeys? I am starting things off Mar 10-12 in South Florida. From there I will hunt the south Zone opener in Texas. Then I may make a trip up to Oklahoma at a buddies place. During the week I will hunt in Louisiana a time or two at a buddies place. Then I will start my long stretch of Midwestern/Northern states. Will hunt Kansas Apr 25-26, Nebraska 27-29, and Wyoming the 30-2. Its going to be a fun year and if all goes well I will finish my single season slam, all with the 20 gauge and TSS I reload myself.

Next year I plan to hunt some North Eastern States and spend a week or so up there and probably catch Kentucky or Missouri on the way up there. However, the most exciting thing about next year will be going to Mexico to kill a goulds. 2022 I will head back to Mexico to kill an ocellated.

I look forward to hearing where everyone else will be going this year. I wish everyone the best of luck and look forward to seeing success pics.

Mine does not sound near as exciting as your's. If...IF my son has a break in his baseball schedule that happens to fall on a weekend that he is with me, then we will get to go to Pawhuska, OK to do a turkey hunt. Also have a possibility to go to a buddies place in Throckmorton after one of his Saturday games. That's the only thing I don't like about baseball, and the girls soccer. Makes it tough on spring Turkey season.

Oklahoma is a really fun place to hunt. Its looking like I will not be hunting there this year.

Texas and Oklahoma for sure. New Mexico and Missouri..haven't finalized. No Kansas this year with the limit going to 1 bird this year. I really want to harvest another Eastern in TX. Finding private land that has birds that you can hunt is difficult at best.

I have a co-worker here that has several hundred acres in Red River county that they hunt with Eastern birds on it and I have been pestering the crap out of him for 9 years to let me even PAY to hunt a Eastern but still no luck. Lol. If I was his boss I would fire him. Lol

Born to hunt and fish.

I have never killed an eastern in Tx. I have never had the opportunity. I would really enjoy doing so though.

I had land in Red River county that was chock full of Easterns till they harvested the timber. Nothing like hearing a loudmouth gobbler in that timber...it would literally shake the woods.

Yes it will. I grew up hunting in the Georgia swamps. Nothing like being on the edge of a creek and hearing 5-10 sound off down that creek. I enjoy hunting the other subspecies but nothing gobbles like an eastern.

I will go to a ranch owned by an old family friend in Yuma County, CO. He has a little over 10,000 acres with the Republican River flowing through the middle of it. He has a lot of Rio Grande birds on his place. This is a bi-annual family type hunt.

That sounds like a blast. I have heard places in Colorado are slam covered up.

Good luck. I only plan on hunting their once and I much rather be on private ground to increase my odds, but to each his own.

I can't wait for Florida to open up. I wont be there opening weekend, but will arrive the Monday after the opening to hunt that Tuesday-Thursday. I am hoping I can get it done that first morning and get back to work. Landowner is seeing tons of birds and says birds are strutting and gobbling really good right now.

When are you heading down there? I spoke with the landowner property I will be hunting today and he said birds have been very vocal the last week. Things are looking to be an awesome time.

I’m going to try and get western on them in Weatherford, Tx. I see a group of about 20 turkeys every weekend. Also saw a Tom with some hens in Lipan this past weekend. They are moving.

You gone miss the South Zone opener in Tx then. Thats one reason I didn't want to go to the North Zone. Other was I want a 100% pure osceola from their native grounds. Didn't want to chance killing a hybrid as I know I will not make this trip again until my son is old enough for his slam.

We always fly...just hope the corona doesn't shut down domestic air travel b/c that would be a 22 hr drive for us...

I see birds pretty regular on the way to my place in that first little mesquite flat surrounded by all the ag. fields at the corner of 87 and Ft. McKavett road.

Well Florida hunt went well. I was able to take my osceola on the first day. Heard 8-12 birds on roost however they hit the ground and went opposite direction with the hens. I was able to get back on them mid morning and called in two longbeards and killed the biggest of the two. 9.5in beard, 1 1/4 spurs, and weighed right at 17lbs. Not the 1.5in spurred osceola I wanted, but I have completed my slam now according to the NWTF. However, I know the bird I shot in Nebraska was a hybrid which is why I am going to Wyoming this year along with other states to get not only finish the slam but also get a single season slam.

I will once I get back home. That ride is absolutely miserable by the way. It isn't like driving out west and having something cool to look at.

Beautiful bird Clark! I think the greens and reds in an Osceola’s feathers are the prettiest!

Good luck everyone. I will post updates in here as I am able. Seems like this last week spypoint cams have showed less and less Turkey activity. Has it been raining south of San Antonio?

Lots of rain all over out here. It's like Louisiana here lately...having to cut grass twice a week...in WEST TEXAS!!!!

Yea that's what's got me a little worried. Buddy did tell me he saw quite a few stutters blowed up in a field on his property ystdy. Cams just ain't showing many birds lately. A week ago there would be birds on cam all day. Now just a handful of pics. I'm hoping the birds have finally broke up and are just out trying to pic up ladies. I have never had problems with birds here before so we shall see.

Good luck to you folks that are hunting turkeys for the first time. You may find you enjoy it so much that it becomes an annual ritual. For me, it's everything other than a couple of dove and hog hunts, its what I look forward to each year.

Turkey is by far my favorite type of hunting. Nothing better than it imo.

Agree. Should be a great season.

Not for me. We are shut down for at least the first 3 weeks. Our landowner is real sensitive to having any kind of trouble with law. He gets real upset if the GWs show up for any reason. He does not want the law to have any reason to enter property. With the location of our place just a few extra trucks on road in would raise suspicion. We are at the end of the county road.
