Crap...it's official, Taylor county will sound like more of a war zone this year. You'd think you were sun bathing on Normandy last year on opening morning. I can't imagine this year.

The majority of hunters from Abilene were FOR those new regulations for Taylor County. Nothing should be any different than any other opening day of the General season...you won't have to worry about hearing a "war zone" for the opening day of Archery Only Season even though Crossbows will be allowed for anyone this year.

Where did you find out about crossbows ? I was looking to see if that passed too. What about steel shot for dove hunting ?

San Jacinto county falls under the antler restrictions this year. I have hunted the same place there for 14 years and I think this is good The past four or five years I have been passing on smaller bucks anyway. Hopefully this will let more of these deer get some age on them.

The Governor signed the Crossbow bill about 4 weeks ago to be implemented this 2009-2010 Hunting season where anyone can use one during the Archery Only Season. http://www.texashuntingforum.com/ubbthre...e=1&fpart=1The 2009-2010 Outdoor Annual will be available come August 15th when the new licenses go on sale.

ya but i dont want to have to clean a mzl loader everytime i take her out to pop a hog which is what her gun would be for mainly. and mzl loaders would weigh to much for her. i probably wont get a mzl loader till im outta college unless i trade for one. ive learned one thing about any black powder, they are expensive to get all set up for!!!! once u buy the gun, u get a new ram rod, more powder, lead balls, patches, cleanin patches, bore butter, new nipples, caps etc. etc......

i use to shoot a lil comp with em, but they were all borrowed guns, after u shoot it, its 30-60min of cleanin dependin on wha kind of rifle u own..... but my cap and ball takes forever since i have 6 chambers to clean instead of just one....
