Never understood the credit card thing for personal use. I get it you get rewards after you spend $$$$. An example is Gold Amex has a 250.00 annual fee. You really have to eat out a lot or go to the grocery store a lot to get points back. Not to mention the interest. I know with Amex you can pay it all at the end of the month, they anticipate you won't though and here comes the interest charges.....not for me.
I use my company card for most everything for business, and my bank debit account for all others. I have always looked at it if you can't pay cash for it right then (debit) why buy it. If you need to float something on your credit card till payday then you are doing something wrong.
Minus my home and vehicle.
Maybe I m crazy.

We put thousands on our cards every month and pay them in full the next month. No interest, fees, etc. Make pretty good bonus points every year. Free money if you're disciplined.

Only two cards. Master Card and Chase debit card. Debit card for everything outside of the house. Master Card for utilities and such. Master card goes to debit card on auto pay. I get a great float that way.
Example. My auto insurance premium went to my Master Card on 7/9. It was paid to my debit card on 9/3. It gives me a headache. I think the debit card gets paid on 10/3.

You admit to being crazy. First step in solving a problem is knowing you have a problem.
Credit cards let (allow) you spend more than if you would have paid cash. That 1%, in reality, allows you to spend 10-20% more. That is why most places look at 3% CC fees as a cost of upselling the customer.
Pay cash and you will spend less. If it a business expense, take a picture of the receipt and send it to your bookkeeper.
I am a total hypocrite as I do not do that. I use my CC.

It'is a don't spend it if you don't have it to pay back at the end of the month unless you plan on going in debt or pay large fees. Most all of my hunting and fishing stuff was bought with points money. We put three kids thru college and used the credit card to pay all of their expenses and then moved money from the college fund to pay the card off. My credit union auto drafts so I am never late so no interest charged ever and no yearly fee either.

I use a Capital One card for fuel in all my ranch trucks. Pay in full each month. Rarely use a debit card.

I use two different cards, for to income tax purposes. I use them as if they were debit cards. Both have five figure limits, . Pay off each month. Feel safer than debit card and easy to uses. I alway know my balances, within a few dollars. Cash back is just a bonus.
If the 2nd amendment was written just to include guns for hunting, why is there not an amendment to protect fishing poles?

There are a lot more cards than Amex, I go for the ones that have no annual fee. My current Amex is through Navy Fed and I get rewards points and no annual fee.

A lot of rewards cards don't have annual fees, but you gotta shop around. Credit cards are great, especially with all the hacking and crud that goes on. I use my debit card primarily, but on trips and such, I use my credit card. When you go to rent a car if you use a debit card they do an immediate credit check on you, which would be fine, except it dings you a couple of points off your rating. I just use my credit card which also comes with insurance protection so I don't have to take out their policy. The key to credit cards is just pay the stupid things off every month.

Guess I'm in the minority, but I actually got one years ago to help build credit, which it did. I still use one today, primarily for gas, groceries & trips but always pay it off at end of the month

Well, if you have a Tundra you won’t be spending big bucks on repair. Shop with the savings.

I only use a CC for online purchases. Cash for everything else. I always ask if there's a cash price when I'm buying something from a small business and I save on that all the time.
