Pulsar just announced the release of their new APEX thermal weapon sights. It's an impressive offering for a thermal weapon sight series to start at $2,999. Right out of the gates I have noticed a few cool features and outlined them below. We still aren't anywhere near being able to give lead times or specs on available units. We just know that it's coming and it looks impressive! Notable features - The APEX can be powered externally AND send a video out signal for recording. - Manual, Auto, and semi-auto calibration selections as well as noiseless calibration. - 10 reticles - 384x288 resolution cores - Pricing starts at $2,999 Unknowns - Will these units have adjustable brightness and contrast like the Quantum handheld units? If so, HUGE plus because you can control the image for all situations. - What are the reticle options? With 10 reticles there should probably be one for ever user out there. Just curious as to what they are. Maybe they are similar to the N550A reticles here. Features - What models will be available in the US from the XD38, XD50, XD50A, and XD75? - Are the displays LCD or OLED? Pulsar Apex Thermal Weapon Sights

..Must Resist..... Here are some links to information on the scope. I have the handheld monocular version (HD38s) which uses the 384x288 French core Link to core info and I am really impressed with the quality of the image. The handheld mono has a manual focus which I am hoping they integrate into the APEX.... The screens are OLED (640x480) http://3d-tech.com/Dschulnigg2014/apex.htmlMinute Mark 3:15 Minute Mark 1:41

Pulsar Apex XD38 Thermal Riflescope = £3,299.00
Pulsar Apex XD38 Thermal Riflescope = $5,505
I spend my money on dogs, hunting, racing, women, and whiskey - the rest I waste.

Sorry to burst ya'lls love bubble but you knew it wouldn't last long Overseas pricing is usually different than US pricing on Pulsar products. The APEX pricing will be in US dollars as follows: XD38A $2,999 XD50 $3,999 XD50A $3,199

If I am a European customer, I can buy the same scope from the US for a lot cheaper and just pay the shipping. Why would anyone in the European market buy their scope locally and pay double the price?

lol I realized this right after I posted it. But still you would have some serious pissed off europeans who are paying more for a company that is based in europe and has a better market visibility than the US

Sachel, I know you are well traveled. The U.S. is poor and broke. We can't afford Euro pricing...

These look really good. Like HTxH, I tried out the HD38s and really liked it. For this price point (which happens to be less than the HD38s, this looks like a bargain functional thermal rifle sight.
Given Bearclaw's survey (do you still have the link, Bearclaw) of the distances people typically shoot at night, this scope will handle the ranges 90+% of the time for what people are shooting. The % may be higher. I can't find the survey, but it should work out to 200 yards for hogs (based on what I saw with the HD38s), though you can certainly see much further.

Sorry, I was wrong. The Apex should handle distances normally shot 99% of the time at night (200 yards or less) and would have handled 73% of responders longest shots at night.
I still think that was a great survey idea.
