Misfire. Those were related to your 2nd post. I know some of the vizslas included in the study so was aware of that one. To the other side of the issue here is one study relating longevity to spay/neuter.

and an article related to that one.

No neutering until the dogs growth plates are closed. Around 18-24 months. Vets recommend early neutering as a form of birth control. Because lets face it. Most people can't control or train their dogs..

If you don't want to deal with the mess with a female,, board her.

Bottom line is it is HIS dog and he can do whatever he wants regarding the spaying of her. If we start shoving our beliefs down others throats I move to rename the form to LeftCoastandnothuntinganymoreforum.com grin

I always enjoy your wealth of information you share dawaba!

Bottom line the op asked for our thoughts and experience and people did as requested.

I did ask for thoughts and opinions from the board. I sincerely thank everyone for their input. Despite the discussion getting a bit energetic, I believe there was very good information passed back and fourth. I heard opinions from experienced owners, trainers, breeders, a veterinarian and was provided links to scientific studies. There really isn't much more I could ask for. I was able to take the info presented and make a decision that works for us.

Again, thanks everyone for the input.

Boys underwear work well with a feminine pad placed inside. You put them on the dog back wards with the tail sticking out the access hole.

Real easy answer to all those. No, No, and No. Spaying or neutrering doesn't change any of those. And without getting on too big of a soapbox, I'll just say that breeding can be a lot of work as well as endanger your gal, you rarely make money at it, and you don't get a "clone" of your dog just by breeding it.

Those are the most common misconceptions I encounter.

I had mine done at like 10 weeks of age. She has more drive to hunt, then you can imagine.....just ask my wife what she goes through each time I leave early in the morning with camo on and don't take my dog! You take a couple "fetches" away from my dog and she will do anything you ask her, just so she can get the next one!

I have had it done, only because of inside dog. if I had outside dog and perfect kennel, I wouldn't do it, my preference.
