Why are the clip-on NV scopes so expensive? Just seems like it would be cheaper since you leverage the standard scope that's already there. Have a leupold VX3, sure seems like it would be nice just to add something on to it.

I think the issue is that the mount itself is much harder to make than a standard mount; at least if you want it to work correctly. Any hand machining is going to run up the price. Or that's my theory anyhow.

$200 Larue QD mount on the thermal I use I doubt that's where the cost is

Collumination of the lenses is what makes them expensive.
