Hi all,

Dumb question time...

Can you shoot mechanical BHs thru the shoot thru mesh? My buddy started bowhunting this year and I use fixed blades. I don't know the answer to that and he's going out to the lease.

Would like to be there to see the look on his face if they end up bouncing back at him. roflmao

They tell you not to but i can say that pretty much anything will penetrate that mesh at those speeds without batting an eye.

It wont bounce back but it could cause them to expand.

buddy did it on a 200 lb pig Saturday morning... I looked at hole in mesh and it wasn't symentical like when I shoot my fixed blades through it. I think one of the three arms on the mech opened and if flew funny... he center punched the pig... greasy nasty arrow and no blood so no recovery. I know we talked about it and I have always heard no... SO none of us will be doing that again

I always fold 1/2 of the front window up to shoot through. The mesh can be real hard to see through in low light.

I make the front shooting window string pulled to open so I still get the concealment of the mesh windows with out the worrys of a bad flying arrow due to the mesh windows with mechanical BHs. I wouldn't shoot thru windows with anything I've had a fixed blade knocked of coarse when shot thru mesh window. I don't want my arrow to touch anything till it hits it's mark. Just my .02

I used to shoot Spitfires and would practice shooting at a target thru the mesh. Every time I would release an arrow I would hear a click. After a few shots and inspecting the mesh it looked like the mesh was opening the Spitfires. It didn't affect POI but did make a click.

I would suggest leave the mesh up and cut a hole through it to shoot thru.

I would not..it will likely open the blades and cause the arrow to deflect and go off course

The only way he will ever know, is to do a practice shot thru one.
I do not understand for the life of me why people will try something that they never even practice for.
Mind boggling!!!

I did it with a fixed blade once...and never again. It changed the angle and I hit high. I finally recovered the doe, but took more effort than it should have.

I fold one corner of the mesh back. I took a few 20 yard practice shots threw one with a fixed blade tip and each shot hit in a little different place. Took the mesh off and put the same three arrows with the same tips in a 2 inch circle. Not the best but I was a new bowhunter with old used equipment.

Ive not had any issue with 2 shots with the "shoot" through mesh..its like light gauze, 1 broad-head was the ABC Sonic 100gr and the other 100gr 4 blade Muzzy! ....But no way Id feel confident to use the mechanical through the mesh. Hence I have a like new pack of unused NAP scorpions in my "box" to this day if I ever find myself hunting out of my blind!

I have shot through the mesh at two bucks. Using a crossbow with scope I was very sure of my placement.
Distance was 20 and 25 yards.

Both times I was using a fixed broadhead, talking with several hunters I know we decided that the mesh distorted the flight path and slowed the bolt down just enough to throw the bolt off.

No longer will I shoot through the mesh......

Best o luck

TC
