Picture of my Dash Rip Rock taken just outside Apishapa Wildlife area in Colorado. I am busy with life for a while, but when I can I'll post a nice set of grouse hunting pictures from across CO and KS. Just had to get this one up to share now. When this was taken I was stranded in the middle of nowhere with two flats and one spare. Thunderstorms and rainbows all around me as the sun was setting. It was not as bad a moment as you might think.

The best.

Quail hunting is like walking into, and out of a beautiful painting all day long. Gene Hill

Shopping with your husband is like hunting with the game warden.
Experience is what you get, when you didn't get what you wanted.

There is time, and you must take it, to lay your hand on your dog's head as you walk past him lying on the floor or on his settle, time to talk with him, to remember with him, time to please him, time you can't buy back once he's gone" GBE

Good one, Barny.

Outstanding picture, Sniper.

It is so hard to get a good one of a dog on point from the front. The birds tend to cut the moment short so much of the time!

Sounds like Gods way of telling you to slow down, look around, and FOCUS on the PICTURE! woot

That is an outstanding picture suitable for framing!

Or maybe God's way of just telling me to slow down period! I had nothing but time. When I took that picture here is what I was dealing with. The rest I think are cell phone pictures.
Two flats, one spare, and on a ranch road through private property of the type you just don't often see people.

And here is the view down the road. It looked the same both directions. I'll do a photo essay of the trip later that will explain how I got out of the predicament.

Dash gets some credit. in that I did not have a camera in hand at the moment of his point. I saw the picture to be in real life, yelled a "WAIT". Ran to the truck for the camera. Even had to change batteries on the run back. Got in line with the rainbow and POW. I knew I had one of the best dog pictures I have ever taken. He had relaxed a little having figured out himself it was either just a flash point or the bird maybe had left during the time I was running around to get the picture, but by him looking into the camera, it really made the picture I think.

Though I was stranded I did not care. I was in a good place and not talking about physically. There were separate storm cells rolling across where I was and over the distant mountains and they seemed to part around me every time they got close. I counted 5 separate rainbows I could see at one time. By a miracle some good people did find me. It is nice to know there are good people left in the world and I was able to pay it forward the next day. More than just a great picture, that picture means more to me than anyone will ever know. Not quite a point in time, but close. I purposely did not take the sunset picture. That one was just for me.

Man John - I have more pictures similar to your truck than I have anything like the first shot of Dash. Thats crazy fate, grouse god smiling down on you to cheer up your day I guess!
