Just wondering how many others are hunting with trad gear this season?

Will be getting set/practiced up and start with pigs this off season. Hopefully I will be ready next season for deer. This season I will still have training wheels.

I work hard, drink a little and hunt when I can.

I'm in your boat passthru, I have the same plan. Any advice on a brand of bow to get and more importantly where to go to get one (a shop that has a trad shooter would be the best)? I've always used a Mathews so I'm at a loss when it comes to a traditional bow. The last time I used one was from the age 10 to 11 before my pops bought me a 35lb compound bow and that was 20 years ago! I can still remember missing my first doe, I was sitting on a five gallon pail backed up to a gigantic oak tree, she was about 8 yards away, I was shaking like a leaf, and I shot right over her back. That's what started the obsession!

Why is it that every time I push #1 for english, I cannot understand the person on the other end???

It was a very nice little Bear Kodiak Magnum that got me back into the traditional archery. Shot one at Cabela's and had to have one. Cabela's stocks more Trad bows than any store I have been in and will let you try some on their range. I am partial to Bear bows which are still made like they were when Fred was alive and shooting them.

I will on Sunday and every other chance I get. I have an older Bear and a new Samick Sage or Vista. The Sage price is right if your looking for a pretty good takedown bow.
Im shooting Easton 2216 with a Magnus 2 blade. Im perfect to 10 yds lol and good enough to 25ish. Where I hunt ya cant see much further anyway and do not plan on shooting at anything over 20.

It ain't easy being me.

You'll never go wrong with a Bear Bow and if you want to start off at a lower price and see if you like it get a Sammick Sage, they shoot as good as some of the higher priced bows. One word of advise don't get one with more than you can handle, just because you shoot a 65# or 70# compound it's not the same with trads.

Yep. I'll be shooting either a 55# Martin Howatt Hunter or 53# Moosejaw longbow.

I have both but prefer hunting with my recurves, they are shorter and my comfort zone increases to 30 yards.

Longbow here, because it quieter and more forgiving.

I'm going compound til I get one down, then I'll pull out my JK Traditions Kanati longbow. It will be my first year with the trad gear!

I've killed deer with my Bear Whitetail 2 (eccentric wheels), then with PSE solo cam, then Mathews outback (current). Now I have killed them with my Carbon Express crossbow, and I will kill one with a Barnett (245 fps). Once that happens, I will go traditional next, but not until next year. I really would like to try hunting like the Indians used to. Its gotta be fun.

I have been hunting with my Bob Lee for 4 years now, I still hunt with my compound some in Kansas but it doesn't compare to the feeling of accomplishment I get when I get a kill with my recurve.

I guess I'm Bi. I switch back in forth from Trad to wheelers. Bob Lee Sig. takedown long bow, Old Browning Cobra recurve, and Mathews.

Gold Tip Traditionals with 4" shield cut feathers with 125 grain Magnus 2 blade stingers out of my 55# Bob Lee. Almost always get a pass through on whitetails and great penetration on hogs if not a full pass through.

Clay

I used to have a Bob Lee signature Take Down....Grey Laminate with Diamondback skin! Was a really good bow for A TD Recurve often think I should have kept it!!!!
