We were selected to hunt Exotics - Caprock Canyons State Park on 1/7 - 1/9. Has anyone else ever hunted out there? Tips/Advice? Thanks...

Hunted there twice for mule deer. Exotics are aoudads. Gets super cold so dress warm. Best to stay in Turkey, 15 minutes away, for hotel and cafes. Turkey hotel will fix early breakfast if you request. Staff at Park are super helpful. Good luck and hunt safe.

Thanks. We are looking forward to the hunt and will be braving the campsite for accommodations. It will be cold but we've got a good set up.

I did this hunt a very long time ago. One of the most memorable hunts of my life. It is a western style of hunt. Take your lunch and stay out hunting all day. You want to have good boots and good binoculars. I also recommend you practice your longer range shooting before the hunt.

Good luck. Hope you do well.

I hunted there 2 times, had success both times for aoudads. And yes when it gets cold there its cold! so prepare. Need good boots, make sure they are already broke in and comfortable. Make sure you are in good shape, parts of it are really ruff and the stepper slopes can be slippery so be careful of your footing, I have seen aoudads in each compartment, just be patient, have good bino's and do a lot of glassing, the guys that work there used to help with a down animal, if you drag to a trail head or creek bottom they would take atv's and get them loaded and back to the truck, not sure if they still do it, its a fun hunt and one of my 1st choices for a place to go, good luck
