What do you guys use for legs and attachments to the drum that the legs fit over? I have seen the barrel bands but figured there was a DIY that was cheaper. Was thinking some square tubing bent and bolted through the barrel then some conduit to slip over the square tubing as the legs. I have some 2 3/8 tubing but feel like that is a little much. What have you tried successfully or not so much?

I use the moultire leg kits. It is a square plate with a eight or ten inch pipe welded to it. I bolt that on then buy pipe from the steel yard that fits over it just right. It doesn't cost that much and they are heavy duty and you only have to do it once.

Best I have used are the Moultrie leg bracket kit that bolts to the barrel. Then I use electrical conduit/pipe for the legs.

I too use the Moultrie leg brackets. Then, I use chain link fence toprail for the legs, fits the brackets like a glove. Galvanized too, so no paint required.

I use 1 1/2" and 2" conduit. 1 1/2" on the barrel with the 2" to slip over, had the barrel ones bent 30 deg. And bolt to barrel slip 2" over with bolt together drill hole at bottom legs on one side drive 1/2" rebar at angle into ground.

Ditto on using Moultrie leg brackets and electrical conduit for legs. Never had a problem with them. Just be sure to use a self tapping screw to fasten legs to brackets and use rebar and wire to secure the legs to ground. Otherwise, you'll get to ride that feeder to the ground if u are using a ladder to dump the corn/etc in feeder.

I use 14ga 1 1/4" square tubing. Put in my press with a piece of pipe welded to another pipe on its end. That bends the tubing. Bend to 20* and weld to drum. Slide 1 1/2" tubing over this.

1.25" Angle iron
1.5" square tubing slides on and without a lot if slop .

Avoid bolting a flat item onto the round barrel, such as square tubing

If you are an old man, like me, build a crank up feeder and stay off those ladders.

By the way, if your having problems with squirrels and coons climbing your legs. I use 4" PVC pipe (5' long) over my legs. It's fun to watch the squirrels trying to figure out that they could climb one day and not now.

I made my own using some oil field pipe. Got the 2.25" oil field pipe for like $1.20 a foot. Used some scrap plate I had lying around for the tabs. I plan on covering moultri pro feeder with some wire mesh or something as well.

I like the oil field pipe idea. Where do you buy the surplus pipe?

Check craigslist under materials. The guy I buy from is usually parked on the side of the road.
