I just mounted a rear winch on my 400 to load and hoist game along with a bed tilt limiter. In case anyone is interested I thought I would share. Now let's see if I can post the pics.
The winch comes off and mounts in a matter of seconds.

The bed tilt limiter is so that the tailgate doesn't get dislodged because of the hitch ball when the bed is raised and so the winch cable clears the front of the bed.

Looks nice.

Is there a pulley mounted above? if no shouldn't the cable feed out the back instead of the top?

No, no pulley, don't want anything getting in the way of the soft top/back when it's on there. I do plan on welding a piece of angle to mount another fairlead so it can be changed to got straight out the back, but my main reason for having it go up is to hoist deer. I typically pull up under a tree branch and toss a rope over then tie off to the ROPS or front bumper and pull forward. As it is I can hoist deer straight up then back down into the bed. One man operation.

back when you did this I figured to do the same on mine - mounted my winch on my roof (I have a hydrolic bed that opens and closes) - only difference was I found a winch that doesnt even have to be hard wired - has to alligator clips that you just clip to your battery when needed - thanks for your idea!

Which winch (say THAT 3 times very fast!) is set up with alligator clamps? Do you have it on a portable mount, i.e., a receiver hitch?
