What was the story of yer first deer?
The first time I shot a deer was with my dad and sister. We were played out across the ground and a doe walks up to the feeder we wait a bit and a spike walks up. My dad say to me shoot the down. So I get ready, aim, and shoot. She runs off under and tree and then we go down and find it. It was a 80-100yrd don't recall and I believe it was a 243or 223 don't recall either

Opening day 1978, my first time sitting by myself. There's a hillside in front of the box stand about 100 yards away with a well-worn game trail in it. I had the go-ahead from Dad to shoot whatever I saw for the freezer. A big doe walked down the trail so I scoped in on her, then I noticed a little basket-rack 6 following her. He looked like a beast to me, though, so I adjusted my aim and shot him. He dropped in his tracks and the doe just stood there for a few seconds so I popped her, too. I was under orders to stay in the box if I shot anything, so I was sitting there keeping an eye on my deer when Dad walked up and asked if I'd gotten one. I said, "Yeah, I got 'em both!"
