I have an old Browning compound I bought off Ebay and I've never had it set up. This year I have a new E Tx lease and plan to bow hunt so... I looked on THF and several people gave Alv. Archery a thumbs up. I went there Saturday (with my old bow) fully expecting to hear something like, "I guess you could kill a deer with that if you could get close enough to hit him in the head with it."

Instead I got comments like, " MAN that's a good looking bow!" and "That's from back when they made REAL bows." Bonus feel good moment right off the bat!
Steve asked if he could help me but said, "Looks like you've got everything you need." He suggested new string silencers, a new kisser (mine was broken) and whatever you call the D shaped nocking loop. He installed those things and fixed the serving on the string (and showed me how to do it myself)then measured my draw and set up my whisker biscuit.

He never once tried to sell me something but did say, "when you get ready for_____ we'll fix you up!" He also mentioned the range a $10 fee but said, " Next time bring some arrows and I'll go back with you and give you a few pointers and we'll shoot for free."

In short, great place and a big THANKS GUYS for pointing me in their direction !!!

The guys at AA are the only ones I let work on my bow. I have had great luck with them for about 5 years now.

GREAT bow shop. Steve and Jim both are excellent and I'm lucky to have them 15 min down the road.

Troy Thompson has been a friend for many years; I met Troy through Bowtech when he first became a Bowtech dealer. Alvarado Pawn was one of my archery sponsors when I was competing.
He talked about getting an archery shop for about five years, I know one thing Troy is a class act and so is Alvarado Archery.

I stopped in there last week for the first time. Didn't have my bow with me since it wasn't a planned visit (i just happened to be out that way). I had my daughter with me and just went in to look around. Even though they knew I was just looking one of the sales guys (i didn't get his name) took the time to show my daughter all the different bows and set ups they have for women and teens. He told her that she was welcome to come back when we had more time and he would set up a bow for her and let her shoot it. NO CHARGE!! He literally may have gotten someone into archery that had never even considered it. She says that her school has and archery team and now she may want to join. These folks are truly a class act and seem to be genuinly interested in getting folks into archery more than making a sale to every person who walks in the door. Although I guarantee that they've earned my business for life. Absolutely the best experience I've had at and archery shop. I had a terrible experience with a shop in arlington owned by Ken "somebody". After dealing with him I was genuinly afraid to go into a shop if I wasn't prepared to buy the latest bow on the marked. He litterally made me feel inadequate because I had an older bow. I told the guys at alvarado what I had (although it's somewhat newer that what I took to Ken) and they said "oh yeah, there's nothing wrong with that. Bring it in and we'll get it set up perfect for you." Again these folks are just a class act.

Sorry for the long post but visiting with the folks at Alvarado Archery litterly made my day. And them taking the time with my daughter to get her interested made me happier that I can even explain.

Go visit them. It's worth the drive!
