Where in Texas would you buy 400 or so acres. Explain why.
They make ammo specifically for hunting for a reason!

Within 2 hours of where I lived. Anywhere west of the metro with as few neighbors possible. I have a 1,000 lease like that. Only neighbors are leases. Too cheap to lease than buy though. Would take $2 million to buy what I lease for $1,600 a year.
For deer density I would look down by Bosque but 400 acres would be $1 mil atleast.

If you are wanting to hunt year round then it would be in the Hill Country north or north and west of San Antonio due to the numbers of whitetail, hogs, exotics and turkey. If I were looking for big WT only then I would look in any of the counties producing big deer consistently in South Texas, West Texas(panhandle), Grayson, etc. Hill Country would give a lot of the small German towns that are popular now.
Are idiots multiplying faster than normal people?

really depends on what kind of country you want to look at and what type of hunting you like. i like NE texas, pretty country with decent rainfall and big deer. also happen to know of 450+/- acres for sale right now 1 hour from dallas with BIG deer....
If I send my neighbors a text and ask them to give me feedback on my lawn and plant rye into a giant dong pattern, I'm probably going to get some less than positive feedback. Same goes here.

What is the current range of the free range axis herd in south Texas. I know about Edwards county and am pretty sure they haven't made it up to Irion county, past that I know very little.

400 acres in the hill country is going up cost what about 1000 acres in south Texas or the panhandle costs unless you're way out.
