We bought Joshua a Diamond for Christmas. Have taken care of the bow with meticulous regularity. The string is fraying quicker than any bow I have ever seen. Pro shop says it needs to be replaced and told me to call Diamond and they will make it right.

No they wont. If I have to buy a string I will surely go after market and never do business with them again.

Sounds like it was one that set on the wrack in stock for a good while without ever being pulled back... no one dry fired it did they? I made the string on my diamond last 6 years but im not sure if they put different strings on different models

Core and yes. When a string wears out in 90 days we have a problem. Their company rep told me that if I had read the owners manual I would know this. So I got salty back and told him that he knows damn good and well no string should wear out in 90 days. I will buy Joshua a Mathews like I should have done in the first place.

He wouldn't say it was or wasn't, but he did say it is not covered. I would have thought they would throw out a 15.00 string to appease, but hell no. Pro shop is doing the labor for free, but cant get the company to do crap. I will buy a zebra string and have it put on.

Yes it had a loop. The final word from Christopher Molina at Diamond, is they don't ship to individuals, so If I want any action I have to have a dealer look at it and then call and order. So they will now fix it, but I have to make two trips to Garland. They wont just go ahead and send it so I have one trip to make. I will just buy a zebra string and have it put on.

Might be the best bow in the world, but the one man ruined my opinion of the company and lost my business.

Don't blame you that sucks. The dealer should have taken care of it one way or another the first time or contacted Diamond for you. I always go with aftermarket strings also... even if they were going to replace it id be scared of another 90 day string

That's what the pro shop guy said. Josh runs through no telling how many arrows out of that thing per day, so it would behoove us to go aftermarket.

That's not a bow issue. Go buy another string and have it replaced. Diamond is one of the best bows out there

For liability reasons they won't ship to individuals.

Never asked for it to be shipped here to me, it was supposed to be at pro shop when I arrived next Tuesday. If you sell a product and it doesn't last 90 days, there is a quality issue, it may very well be anomaly, but there is a problem. Ford might be the best truck out there but every once in a while they make a turd, and a tranny doesn't last 10k. So, those folks should hush and pay for it out of their pocket? Its not a "truck" issue after all.

If he is keeping the string waxed, I would be checking the cams for burs. I have never heard of any string wear out that fast without there being more to the picture.

There is a reason these bows are coming off the wall new at such a low cost... If hes shooting that much I wouldn't dout it messing up that fast... just cheap strings I bet.

Either way he is better off with a Zebra string.

The Zebra string will be an upgrade to the factory strings used on Diamonds IMO.

I rescind my criticism. Diamond called Joshua tonight and said they would cover it and he doesn't have to worry. They appreciated his business and told him they would get his bow back in shape at no cost.

You can do much better than a Zebra string.

Call up Korbin and get one made. You choose the colors, and string material. (452x or 8125, or 8190). The difference between a mass produced string and a custom one is more than you might at first realize.

I figure on a new string no matter what bow I buy. A string is an easy way for an OEM to cut corners without consumers seeing it right off.

I even put new strings on my wife and daughters bows. It changed things considerably as far as how well they shoot. Mrs shoots a Diamond, Twerpy a Hoyt.

Yes but you may also void your bows warranty.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck, but glad to hear they are going to fix it after all…I have a 2008 Diamond Marquis I bought new in 08. The factory string is still solid. I don't shoot much in the offseason but I shoot pretty heavily during the season, and the original string has lasted the whole time. I am going to replace it this summer though.

A valid point to consider. It does not address that the Octane strings are pretty unimpressive though. I am willing to take my chances with a better set of strings.

Can I use aftermarket string and cable sets on my BowTech or Diamond bow?

Many aftermarket string and cable(s) sets are only "close" on the lengths and diameters. This can drastically slow down, affect the performance, and significantly reduce the ease of tuning your bow. Use of aftermarket string and cable sets, and failure of that product resulting in further damage, will void the lifetime warranty of your bow.

Of all the OEM's out there, none are making particularly impressive strings. I will say that the string quality on a flagship bow will be far superior to those on a pricepoint model.

Got the bow back today and it turned out there was a burr on the cam. The fixed it and sent him a shirt and had the bow shop fix him up a dozen arrows on them. They called him tonight and checked on him and gave him a direct number to call if he ever has any problems. I must say again I rescend my criticism. He now has Chris at bowtech saved as a contact on his cell. up

Looks like once you got past the first guy, customer service was top notch. Too bad you had to rant before they took care of you, though.

It turned out ok. You are right. The first guy sucked. When I took the bow to Longview the guy at the shop told me that bowtech was top notch and he would call them. Soon after the company went above and beyond. They guy at Winchester in Longview did tell me that I should replace the string with a zebra or go first class with Korbin. We will end up doing that in the future.
