We've been losing a duck every week to ten days from the pond next to our home. The neighbor across the highway came over yesterday afternoon to tell me that he just saw 2 adult Bobcats sneak across the highway, down our fence line and over to the trees around the pond. Of course when I went out there to look there was nothing within sight. In 10 years time here I've only seen a Bobcat once and that was in the summer on a moonlit night. This morning when I went out to check the feeder, one of our pairs of Pekin ducks was missing. Any varmint hunters here interested in giving it a try at our place? I suspect it will have to be with night vision gear.

I imagine the Bobcats will still be here for awhile, or until we run out of ducks.
Ivanhoe is 85 miles NNE of DFW, 9 miles N of Bonham.

Cole ... I'd actually prefer trapping them but there are neighbors dogs in the area that I'm concerned about. I have trapped a boatload of raccoons and the occasional skunks here. We've even done this in combination with the trap ... The poison is way too indiscriminate so I quit using it after seeing the results with two coons. They didn't make it 10 yards but thrashed around a lot and that changed my mind about using poison.

You should be able to get the cats into a cage trap, we get them but they do need to 18" tall or even a little more. If you start having problems with coyotes or red fox you'll need to go another route.

You got any beavers around there? serious Never saw one or any evidence of their being around here. 3-4 years back we had a family of three Otters in one of our dawg training ponds and they would run back and forth between a couple of them, especially following heavy rains when they could run and slide on the small run-off creeks between ponds. They disappeared as suddenly as they first showed up but were very entertaining to watch for 4-5 months that they were here. Never did figure out where they came from or where they went to.

Dang... that's the best bait for them there is... but if yall don't have them bet it wouldn't be. Any game fencing on the place? snares could be an option

Someone has just pointed out in a PM that using poison to kill any animal or bird is illegal. As I said in that post above, I quit using it a couple years back after killing two coons with it when I saw the effect that it had.

You can get a permit to use cyanide traps... that stuff is sketchy though... there aint no second chances.. but it is as instant and humane as you can get imo
