Market hunters were the folks that killed ducks to be sold commercially. They would mount those guns onto a swivel mount on the front of a punt (small boat) and make skillet shots into a flock. That's why some folks call them punt guns. The Texas Ranger's Museum in Waco had one on display several years ago, it might still be there. Thanks for the backup FWBanger!!
