Just woke early this A.M. and was pondering what you all are looking forward to upon retirement? Are you going to do more hunting, fishing, traveling, or will family & home time be more important? I know some people just never retire from working, while others can't get there fast enough. Are you preparing already, or just living day to day. I myself am shooting for 5 more years of work. Then I'm setting my hopes for spending the entire fall-winter here in texas hunting and fishing the gulf. Probably escaping north during the summer heat and fishing Canada/Minnesota 'til the cold weather sets in. You can pinch me now, I'm only dreaming!!!

I have been planning for retirement since I was 25, I can't wait to not have to work. I hope to retire fairly young, and you can bet I will be hunting, fishing, and traveling a lot!

Plan to hunt/fish/golf more than I do now. Job gets in the way of my hobbies. I also would like to take an RV and tour our beautiful country with my wife and take my time doing it.

My wife and I are both retired. Both our kids are grown and live in their own homes with their family. We find time for them but our retirement is ours and we both have enjoyed hunting and fishing and traveling. We do as much of that as we can. Retirement is your time enjoy and use it like its yours. After all that is the end product of what you worked for all you life.

Wife and I are also retired. I hunt a lot and fish in the spring and fall. She shops. We travel quite a bit. This is what we worked so hard for, and we are enjoying it quite a bit.
We retired from the city to our little ranch and I can hunt 24/7 if I want. I hope you fellows can have a nice retirement, and soon..if you wish.

We are already there, we spend time in Texas to be with the kids and grandkids and spend the rest of the time in Ruidoso for peace and quite and the cool mountains during the summer. Along with a little other travel for a little variation we are happy.

Louis, you're just about retired anyway. My Wife calls me semi-retired now. We've managed to save our pennies wisely, don't go on extravagant vacations and still living the dream. We've got property in Camp wood up in the hills for a vacation place when the temps get in the 100s. I'm pretty happy with our setup just the way it is now. I'm not sure how I would change things. The Wife has been all over Europe, I'm just not interested in that. I'd rather watch the travel channel and stay home in Texas.

Got 15-18 more years and yes we started planning quote a while ago. I want to play more golf, hunt, travel, and continue to make time for family. We are building a house in Bartonville on 4 acres in a couple of years and it will have a fishing pond for Grandkids. Hope to have it paid off before I retire.

my plan is to win the lotto here pretty soon and retire to the deer woods, i will probably get my RE license too and make millions around my hunting schedule.
If I send my neighbors a text and ask them to give me feedback on my lawn and plant rye into a giant dong pattern, I'm probably going to get some less than positive feedback. Same goes here.

I used to plan on doing a lot more hunting, fishing and traveling but after traveling quite a bit this year with work I don't care to ever step foot in another airport. I know I'll have to fly some for a few more years then it's retirement for me. Baker

Well Erath, I'm thinking that I am there already, only my better judgement (or stupidity) says that I better give it a few more years. I am just a bit freaked out from what our federal government is doing to us, and that is my concerns. So Erath, when you throw in the towel, I'll be right behind you!

I purchased my property 2 years ago anticipating that my love of hunting would help fill those idle retirement hours. I retired in July. I spent 3 weeks of bow season at the property, 2 weeks in November and will spend 2 weeks in December. I haven't gotten up one morning thinking about work. I only wish I could have done this before I was 65. Love my family and I sure love my hunting and fishing. Hope the Good Lord lets me hang in for a while

The towel is swingin' in the air right now. I share your concerns too. You better have a plan and positive cash flow. The future will be VERY expensive, that's for sure.

I'll probably never retire honestly. Even if I could afford to, I wouldn't.

I retired about six months ago. Spending much more time with guns, traveling and and other interests. Even better than I imagined. Don't pass on it when you get the chance. Money is not everything.

I've seen too many people with plans after retirement only to not make to retirement. I say don't wait till retirement. Do it while you can because you never know what the future holds..

I will hut and fish during the middle of the week while the lake and woods are quiet.
