Always check the firearm.

Saw two people shoot themselves with Beretta M9's that were unloaded. The first shot himself threw the palm while I sat next to him and the other shot himself in the chest and severed his aorta he was not able to learn from his mistake. It happens and complacency kills.

Never understood how anyone can shoot themselves while cleaning a gun. Still caint.
Do they drop the magazine and consider it unloaded at that point? Maybe there are those that should own revolvers only.

OK, just did a search. Someone put it in terms I can see now. Take a gun, any gun and place it in a cage with any group of animals that have an opposing thumb and see how they handle the thing. That is what it looks like when people that don't have a clue about guns, handle guns.

I don't like the term "accidental shooting". It's a negligent discharge.

Many people rack the slid then eject the magazine because they are not familiar with weapons handling. Unfortunately many people who get jobs at fire arm stores or shooting ranges have no practical experience in handling the huge number of different types they come in to contact with daily. In this case it sounds like the owner of the pistol gave a loaded weapon to the employee to clean and the employee failed to clear the weapon. With the huge increase in fire arms ownership over the last 6 years we have a lot of potential ND's out there waiting to happen.
