That's not a water moccasin. Some type of water snake. Looks like a diamondback.

Moccasins have a more short and stubby body. Not long and slender one.

I didn't think it was dark enough for a water moccasin either, just not sure what else it would be. It was pissed, I know that. It was for sure an aggressive snake. If any body can identify itbthatvwould be awesome.

I think cottonmouths and water snakes look alike by markings and color but the cottonmouth is definitely a short stubby snake. They all water cobras to me though, good shootin!

It's a diamondback water snake. I killed tons of those things growing up. Trust me on this. Google "diamondback water snake" and you will see exactly what you killed.

http://www.thefreedictionary.com/_/dict.aspx?rd=1&word=water+moccasins

Look at definition 2
Water moccasin it term that includes all water snakes.
COTTONMOUTH is a specific snake.

However the term MOCCASIN has been used mostly to just (incorrectly) describe a cottonmouth. It seems most people don't know that it includes all water snakes.

I don't really care what freedictionary.com says. Nobody considers a blotched, broad-banded, yellow-bellied, or diamondback water snake a water moccasin. Nobody.

Nice kill, BUT, A water moccasin(cottonmouth) has a triangle "viper" head

and they're going to be thick, not thin

I know alot of folks around here preach to let a good snake go, but I havent found a good use for any kind of water snake, yet....

Me either. They can still cause infection if you are bitten.

Does anybody know the difference between male and female sizes because there was two of them and the other was way thicker. Once I got it on dry ground it came at me striking, looked a lot like that last pic above just not as dark colored.

That's a water snake, not a water moccasin. Trust me, I've killed plenty of moccasins (cottonmouths).

So I looked up diamond back water snake and it defiantly could have been that. I'm a big game hunting guide, not a snake expert, all I know is that myself and my dogs swim and fish in the water where it was killed regularly and I'm not Abigail fan of either of us getting bit. It looked like a moccasin to me, now it just looks like a dead snake.
