Hey guys, who are the good taxidermists in our area? I've heard mixed stuff about A1 in Mesquite so don't know if I want to try them in the future.

I've heard good stuff about Flagg Group - but do they have a website? I know I saw one once but everything I pull up lately seems to be a dead link for them.

So far I've only used one area taxidermist - American Taxidermy in Terrell did this red stag for me, I'm no expert on mounts but I'm happy with it (my picture doesn't do it justice). I may continue to use them but am interested in other options too for the future.

Thanks,
Earl

A1 in Mesquite is under new ownership for the last two years. The quality of the new owner's game heads is much better than previous mounts from A1. Stop by and look at some of their mounts or website. I'll continue to use them for deer and similar animlas but will steer clear of their bobcat/coyote mounts

Not joking, Don no longer owns it or works there and the quality has greatly improved on game heads.
From their website :

BJ your not helping them much. That eye shot is not very good.Eyes arent suppose to be round like a quarter and the nose isnt suppose to be that open. The bottom pic looks OK but hard to tell without close up but the first 2 arent very good at all.

I thought it looked good compared to the old work. Their old mounts were painted black around the eyes and the nostrils were filled in with looked like black caulk.
Got any suggestion for other local taxidermist, it looks like I need to find a different place to go.

Me and my buddies use Harwells in Rowlett. Nice work, fair prices, and fair timeframes.
I paid $285 for my shoulder mount on my buck two years ago and he did a great job.

I am at $425 this year for Deer. Turnaround less than 6 months.

American in Terrell is good. Have seen a lot of his work and he did one for me. Another real good taxi is A&R in Lewisville.

Two racks Taxidermy in Weatherford does all my taxidermy, I just got back a ram she did for me and was thoroughly pleased with the work, and she is also doing an axis for me.

Doesn't she have a web site, with some of her work???? That could give you alot of lead as to using her or for that matter any taxi.

Looks like bobcats are her specialty. I like the one where it is the head coming through the grass and the one where the cat is stalking, as it is on the log.
