Anyone have any info on Robertson County around Bremond,TX? Deer populations, poaching, etc? Found a place that we might buy and sale the place in Rocksprings. As far as hunting that is not a huge necessity but it would be nice to take a buck or doe every once in a while. This place would be closer for my folks and we can run cattle on it and there is a real good pasture for hay. Just curious about crime, meth heads, etc. breaking in and stealing stuff. Because we will have to put our travel trailer down there at first until we build another barn and cabin.

Call the Robertson county Sheriffs office for info on crime. Look at TPWD website for the big game awards to see what the deer are like. Robertson county is big oil-gas country. If you can secure mineral rights, I would do so. They probably have been reserved by a previous owner but it doesn't hurt to ask

Robertson county is a scenic area, lots of rolling hills with post Oak woods. Lots of game too, in areas. I looked up TPWD big game awards and couldn't find an entry. That means nothing. Check the harvest figures for the county. And of course, walk the place and use your own judgement...Good luck and I hope it works out for you. There's nothing like owning your own place. Don't expect it to be as "game rich" as Edwards county and you'll be fine.

Thanks, not expecting a game rich environment and my place in Edwards was more for getting away and busting a hog and the occasional axis if one came through.
We will retain part of the royalties and all the surface. This place looks a lot like my family ranch we used to have in Wilson county and that is a plus as well. Not to mention there isn't rock every square inch. It will also work real well for my folks when they retire since they live in Bryan/College Station and they can turn that house into a rental when the time comes and it is a lot closer than Rocksprings.

I got a place in Robertson county 3yrs ago. It's more game rich than expected. It's just a lot denser and the animals have more place to hide. The Dry Bean is not a bad place to wet your whistle after a long day of work. Its been kind of dry but I just got a report we got close to 3" of rain yesterday. There were some nice bucks last year. This link shows a few http://buckcountryclassic.com/ I'll enter next year. I'm still growing them so I haven't taken anything yet but I have 2 potential 140+ deer that visit regularly. I've seen some nice deer on my ride from Calvert to Franklin and Franklin to Bremond.
Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

Thanks I really appreciate it. Navasot I should of remembered that big 8 you posted last season. If we can take one good buck every couple of years I would be pleased. Just being able to run some cattle again and farm some land and grow some hay will be enough therapy for me. Got to sale the place in Rocksprings first but my Dad already has someone looking at it so who knows this could happen quick.

It seems like there was a guy that shot a book deer in Falls cty a few years back. It came out of a low density area with an expanding population and lots of groceries. No hunting pressure either. Goes to show, you just never know.

Lots of pigs in Robertson too. I like that area - very pretty and there are definitely some bigger deer in certain parts.

I live and work in Robertson Co. Hogs are everywhere. Some parts of the county hold more deer than others. I've seen a few GOOD bucks, but you probably won't see them till the rut. No meth heads that I've heard about and not much news on poaching. I know a lot of people between Franklin and Bremond. PM me about where this place is, I can ask around what they have been seeing. If it's any where close to TU land, you should have a good deer herd, as well as hogs.
