Since dove season is upon us, the song "West Texas Holiday" by Pat Green fits to a T. I cant find a link or such to post in here but its worth a listen. It just fits

the majority of the Texas music scene is very similar to the current housing dilemna, there is some great stuff out there you just got to wade through a bunch of junk to get it.

September come to Texas just one time every year, so we get our guns and our pickup trucks, and a bunch of that Lone Star beer, well we head out for the open plains, where the birds they all flow like wine, we hunt them up then we shoot them down, man it makes me feel so fine, The manly sport is what I'm talking about, so you can grab you a pouch of chew, If we get bored 'cause the birds won't fly, we'll shoot the rabbits with my .22.
Chorus
I don't wanna go to Paris, I get enough French with my fries, just send me on down to Abilene, for the huntingman's paradise, Honey you can stay at home all day, laugh and dance go out shopping and play, 'cause I'll be out with the boys, on a West Texas Holiday.
Hunting is a lot like religion or so it is I'm told, they're both just a simple little way of life, and they're both good for your soul, from Robert Earl Keen to Robert E. Lee, perfect strangers or best of friends, we all have a common little bond between us we were born to be huntin' men, If it flies it dies or so they say, and so often times it's true, yeah but you take yours and I'll take mine, and we'll have us a Bar-B-Que.

"Well, I was drunk the day my Mom got outta prison. And I went to pick her up in the rain. But, before I could get to the station in my pickup truck She got runned over by a damned old train."
All of the basic elements for the perfect country-western song wrapped up in one refrain. Thank you Steve Goodman and David Allen Coe.

I know Pat personally...Met him Back in 93' while drinkin' beer sittin at an Apartment complex in Lubbock...Pickin' a guitar and singin' Marty Robbin's songs. Pat loves to dove hunt...back in School he had a Whimerimer (how ever you spell that) One day I went over and the dog ran through the back glass door trying to chase a bird it saw out there... I was back stage with Pat Green the first time he ever opened for Willie...Funny thing was "we" (all of us...even Pat and his crew) were kicked out of back stage when Willie's stage crew came in...Pooty (Willie's Roadie...was Good Friends of my boss at the time which use to be Jerry Jeff Walkers Roadie) Pat is a good guy, and even years later when I ran into him at different spots...we still say hello to each other! J.J.

I saw that happen when he got hit with that bottle in South Padre. One of the few things i remember from that week. Had family go to Adairs my whole life, still haven't made it. I think I'm putting it on the list for the TX-ou weekend in dallas this year.
