I wonder at what point the officers realized they weren't being fired upon?

I wonder at what point the officers realized they weren't being fired upon? They knew from the get go they weren't being fired upon. They were probably out for a little street justice for their fallen brothers. Sad stuff.

Looks like LAPD is planning to "shoot first; ask questions later".
Hope these DB's aren't representative of the bunch.

Looks like they used high capacity mags....it would be about impossible to screw up the wrong make of the truck, everyone with a blue truck better hide them in a garage. WTF

My SIL is a long haul truck driver pulling a reefer. Tougher then naisl but she told her company that she was not taking any loads to California until this is over. No way, no how. Probably and over reaction but I can't blame her. Company didn't argue.

Just like when those two cops shot 11 people in New York.....
that won't be considered a mass shooting or was hardly talked about....
I don't know how you can mistake a Tundra for a Titan though.....
And a Male for a Female....
Something is missing in this story. Maybe one of those women were divorcing one of the cops or something.
I have nothing against cops and I know there are good ones out there...I just think they lowered the standards so low anybody can get in and when that happens, you get idiots that ....well they are idiots.
Affirmative action?

Anyone here think these officers will face any real consequences for this? Nah....me neither. You know....the cop that went off the deep end is a whacko for sure (read his manifesto...it's online), but he may just have a few valid points in all his rantings. How in the world does one get away with unloading your weapon on a vehicle with innocents inside? Good grief! These are supposed to be trained professionals.

Here's your partial answer... "Obviously, officers are skittish because they're being targeted and have lost one of their own..."
If you guys only knew half the stuff I know about the LAPD and nearby departments, having spent a good chunk of my life around them, you might not be quite so quick to condemn. Yes, they lowered standards quite some time ago. Yes, some are just bad apples. I even remember a time when one group I knew would go out in the desert, get drunk, hide behind rocks and shoot at each other to blow off steam. In those days, anyone who ran from cops also routinely got their azz beat when caught. Ah, the old days...
Anyway, having said all that, I defy anyone to patrol the streets of South Central or East LA day after day, night after night, and remain thoroughly professional. THOSE guys live a daily hell that few will ever experience or even come close to truly understanding.
That, of course, has nothing to do with this incident. Just sayin'...

A choice I wouldn't pick .For those that do...the choice to work in those conditions shouldn't be used as an excuse to shoot up innocent people and their vehicles .

The truck was close to a house that was being guarded and the cops are running scared. Not a good excuse but thats how it looks like it happened.

I was not a cop in L.A., but I lived there over 20 years. And 10 of those years, I spent doing surveillance in the very neighborhoods you just mentioned. Does the pucker-factor go up in those neighborhoods? Without doubt. But if I had shot at every vehicle or person that appeared threatening to me, I wouldn't be writing this. I'd be under some jail out there. Sorry. These guys don't get a pass because they're "jittery"...or because of what they deal with every day. There are a lot of people who aren't cops who live in those kinds of situations too. And they don't get a pass just because life is dangerous for them. You shoot at a vehicle for no good reason and you should go to jail. End of story.

Those streets are no crazier than the ones in Chicago, Miami, Houston, etc. They chose to be on them streets and they're trained to handle crap like this the ones that can't handle it make mistakes like this!
If that was your mother, wife or child the last thing you will be thinking about is excuses for these cops. I have 3 family members in law enforcement and I have nothing but respect for the men and women on the streets but these guys are total [censored] ups! Well said!

The truck was close to a house that was being guarded and the cops are running scared. Not a good excuse but thats how it looks like it happened. Wrong make of truck and wrong color. It just doesn't get much dumber than that. Or maybe they should just shoot at every truck they see.
