My cousin had his rifle stolen yesterday when his truck was broken into at the Academy in Round Rock. Please keep your eyes out if you happen to see it for sale here or elsewhere. It is a Tikka .25-06 left hand action in a Richards thumbhole stock made from Ziricote with Rosewood forearm tip and Rosewood cap on the pistol grip. I believe it is topped with a Burris scope. Please PM me if you see anything that might resemble it. Many thanks,
Russell

I have heard of several vehicles being stolen from that same parking lot - what is the deal down there?

Sorry for your loss, were you able to provide the serial # for the police report? I am a Detective and that helps greatly, I have recovered several firearms this way, from traffic stops and when someone attempts to pawn them, (after they have changed hands a couple a times!) Times have gotten so bad that you can't leave anything nice in your vehicle anymore, (I think they would steal a fire if they could figure a way to pick it up!) Sorry for my rant but I HATE A THIEF!!! & hope you get it back !

there cant be too many others out there like that hope your friend recovers it maybe distribute a flyer / handout to the local pawn shops if he has a pic (its that time of year, I caught 2 young dirt bags peeking inside my truck as I came out of Home Despot the other day but the lookout spotted me and they took off before I could sneak up on them, it would have been a lesson one of them would never forget)

Really sorry to hear this. I'm all for public hangings and thieves are the reason why.
Hope you had the s/n. Check pawnshops and may the thief who did this, fall crotch first on a cactus.

Thanks everyone. He did have the serial number and filed it with the police report. This one stung me as much as it did my cousin. The Ziricote was from a dive trip he and I made to Belize. I had inletted it and glassed it for him and finished the stock for him. I freaking hate thieves.

Wouldn't you like to get a choke hold on one of these scum bags ! CURE: Join NRA...guns automatically insured up to $2500 with membership. Cheap insurance and do some good for gun owners at the same time. They've paid twice for me. Glad I'm a member !

Stolen vehicles and property in them has gone up dramatically in the Austin. My brother had his truck stolen out of a Domain parking lot a few months back. They found it down by the border with the back seat ripped out. Probably used to transport illegals, etc...
I'm at the point where I try not to park my truck in any major parking lots around Austin with fear it won't be there when I walk back out.

I hate to hear that. My truck was hit in San Anotio two years ago around 1604 and 281 (north side). Rifle, binos, range finder, backpack, even my snake boots were taken. The cameras in the parking lot showed it all, but they were not caught. This was in the middle of the day.
Now, a cable through the trigger guard and a pad lock securing it to the seat frame is a must for me if I plan to park my truck with a gun in it. Prob won't stop them all, but should slow them down enough to look for an easier target.

Just sent Diver a pm. If anybody knows him personally, call him and let him know. There's an ad on the Tx Gun Trader that sure looks like what you describe. Link: http://texasguntrader.com/index.php?a=2&b=268036
