Buddy of mine found one too for a little less. I told him that was the best gun you can get under $1200 and better than some of the $1000 guns I've seen.

Must have been shooting some exceptionally hot shells to melt metal inside a gun? Why did he not send it back to Stoeger if it was the first time it had been used?

I got a Beretta 390 for $550, NIB. You don't have to spend $1000.

I've read really good things about the Franchi Affinity. Franchi's seem to be fairly decent quality. With an MSRP of $849 you'll likely be able to pick this up for much less.

$699 for Black and $799 for camo at Cabela's

They did not move to far off msrp for the I-12's when they came out.

I like my I-12 and from what I have read the Affinity replaced the I-12 and is a much better gun.

well i picked up the g2 on clearance at Academy 3 years ago. I haven't had one issue with it ..shoots fine everytime.I dont have the good fortune to be out every weekend. but have run 1/2 case through it at the range. missed my share of dove and quail with it. The thing I find with most semi's is how forgiving the gas system is to dirt and debris. I clean every gunI use after hunting season is over so that might be a factor.I'm not disagreeing with anything said as my son has the Browning Gold and you can tell the difference for sure. I guess I'm in that 15 % well for now anyway

I've have an opportunity to pick up an M2 American with camo stock and forearm brand new with 28" barrel in 12 gauge that a friend of mine picked up over in Sherman at one of the big box retail stores for $750 on sale, he has offered to sell it to me for that price. Would that be considered a good deal? The gun has never had a shell put in it and is still in the box.

Just bought a 12 gauge Weatherby sa-08 and a Franchi affinity. Good guns for the price. Have'nt had a problem with either. We shot the Hell out of them yesterday dove hunting. Got the Franchi for 679 and the Weatherby for 475. I get tired of babying my Browning sporting clays in the dove fields, so decided to buy a few autoloaders. My wife shoot's the Weatherby, she wanted to move up to a 12 gauge. Recoil seems not much more then the 11-87 20 gauge, even though they are light shotguns.

Was the Franchi camo or black? How do you like it?

Franchi is black and i like it! Nice and light, very quick. I killed two rabbits and many dragonflys today while dove hunting! Picked the wrong field today. My wife likes the weatherby, she was using the rio 1.25 oz yesterday nailing doves.

The Fanchi might have to take a trip back to the factory it has a little side to side play when the barrel is locked down in the receiver. One can twist the barrel and see it move. Pi$$es me off to have to send a new rifle back, ugh!!

Looks like this thread ran its course about a week ago but I have one question I would like to have answered by some of you. My gut feeling is this is a dumb question but where do the 1187s rank on this list?

I'd put it low on the list. Most Remington shotguns these days are crap.

Added emphasis.

You'll hear great things about a gun that is 20+ years old but new production with the same model number is crap.
