Does anyone have any REAL experience with a 36v vs a 48v cart? I'm about to pull the trigger on an electric cart & had decided that I wanted the 48v for a little more torque/range (that's what they say) but still find plenty of people running the 36v & seem to be happy with it. Yes I understand there are many factors that effect torque/speed/range (batteries & battery maintenance, cables, controller, chip, motor, tire size & pressure etc etc) but what I really want to know is....Is there really that much difference between the performance of a 36v VS a 48v system? Thanks in advance for the replies....

I've looked at A LOT of carts but am considering buying this one. I wanted to do a total flip on a cheaper one & save a few bucks, but I just don't have time for it right now with my work schedule. This one is ready to use now & I can upgrade with accessories as time allows. Whatcha think?

I have an old EZGO Marathon cart that I just converted from 36 to 48 volts. My cart had the basic upgrades: Lift kit and big tires, 400amp controller with HD solenoid and switch, 4GA cables. It was OK with a top speed of maybe 12MPH, much slower on any kind of hill. I converted to 48 volts and the difference was incredible. I figure the cart goes 18 to 20 MPH, has tons more torque for hauling my big redneck friends or corn and seems to run a lot longer on a charge. Im all in on 48 volt carts!

No comparison 48v

You can also upgrade a 48v motor and controller and push 30mph

I think I've just changed my mind to an 09 Club Car Precedent with 1 yr old batteries, (48v). I also like the aluminum frame, especially in my neck of the woods.

The 36V to 48V Conversion is where the power increase is. Not so much if your cart is a standard 48V cart from the factory. I've done the conversion including going to a 500amp controller and the torque is considerably more. 22mph speed as well.

The PDS systems have a tendency to overheat. Then you have to sit and wait for them to cool down before going again. This problem is worse in the sand (beach) and after installing bigger tires. Just something to consider.

We had alot of problems wiht our like this, I used it solely to get close to the bow stands and out of there quietly, now we just use our ranger and havent noticed any diffrence to speak of.

Well, I did it. Pulled the trigger on a 48v 09 Club Car Precedent with year old Trojan batteries. Having 6" lift/tires & wheels put on now, along with the fold down rear seat w/step & having the body camo dipped (immersion process). Got my eyes on a 5x10 trailer & about to order some accessories online that I'll put on soon, (brush guard/front basket/gun racks/roof rack). Eventually I'm going to upgrade the entire electrical system & add my running/hunting lights,(when I have the cash & time). Been saving $$ for this for a while, I'm getting excited now. I'll post pics later on when more work has been done to it....

Check out buggiesunlimited.com, I've got no affiliation with them, other than a fair amount of paycheck that's gone their way. Once you but anything from them, you'll get a nice commode catalog that's full of crap you'll find you just gotta have.

They're addicting.

Hitch on the back is very useful, but check and see if you can do it with your flip down rear seat/step. Also, upgrade your cables if they're stock to larger gauge welding wire.
