A couple years ago I tried the Moultrie Game Management System and I-45's, lease was out by Olney. Some of my problem was poor reception, but I found the I-45 LCD's, Solar Panels, and Modems all unreliable and customer service useless.

For 6 months I have been trying the Smart Scouter. It is an old system design bulky (camera, solar panel, batteries) and older CF card (remember that?) technology, but they are durable reliable systems and customer service couldn't be better.

I now have 3 Smart Scouters at my Kansas land, here are pics from each last 24 hours. Sorry, bucks haven't been hitting corn very much yet. I'm bound to catch one within a week and will post it. Very happy with Smart Scouter so far, more compact units would be great, but then probably not as durable.

This morning at The Ridge feeder. Camera is on treeline looking out over CRP type pasture. This is where I have a tower blind for muzzle/rifle, food plots, water, and heavy woods behind.

This morning at Crossroads feeder. Deep deep woods where two major trails cross.

Yesterday afternoon at Pinch Point. Deep deep woods at 75 yards wide pass-through between two long coal pit ponds.

That's pretty neat. I have been leary of getting into one of these b/c of the issues you listed earlier. Look forward to future reports to see how they are holding up.

oh yes, will try to get my 73 year old mom on a muzzle buck and then I'll test my patience with my 1 buck tag. laugh I already have several 130-140 bucks around and I would be thrilled as bigger than my TX/OK bucks of past, but I would hate to tag a 140 in September and have a 160+ show up in November. smile

Looking good Rob and I agree do not shoot a 130-140 in September unless he has lots of character points and trips your trigger. Are you going to hunt all seasons until you fill your tag or go archery all the way through November?
I did not book any hunters this year on my properties, I am going to let the stands rest until November then I am going to see what happens. I freshened all of my Rack Daddy Mineral sites in June and hung the cameras, if they show good activity I will try my luck during the rut. I have one property on the Kansas River where I am not allowed to take hunters but it is a sweet spot with a hidden bean field surrounded by hardwoods where my buddy and I put in a lot of our time.

I'm not a 100% bow snob, but I would prefer to take one with bow. Plan is I sit with mom muzzleloader for her to take a deer, she's not as picky. We may use her tag on a cull, but if a 170+ steps out I'm taking the gun! laugh Hopefully she gets a decent deer in muzzle and then I'll spend rest of the year in trees. smile

Crawford...

and FYI in 1992 before I went away to college out of state we got a Lifetime License, so I can get resident tags any-weapon. It now costs a year for out of state deer tag what the lifetime combo cost in 1992! shocked

From what you have said about your mom she is a pretty good shot. Might want to re-think trying to take her gun away. smile
