Just got my Phesant hunt trip planned for the Panhandle and I can't wait. Last year was the best year I've ever had limiting out both opening day and the next. Also going to do some Coyote calling while there. Called in 48 in two nights and of those seven sets of triples!

is this a private lease or with a guide. This year I want to try my hand at phesant but I can not swing the $$$ for a guide. How can a fellow hunt that area on the cheap?

Well this thing is an annual affair that is put on by a club The Pleasant Phesant Hunters Association of Hale County. And I'm not sure but I think you either have to know someone or be invited. My Granfather is a banker for almost all of those farmers, so needless to say I get to go. I wish I could invite some fellow thfer's but cause it is reall ysome of the best hunting in the State.

I grew up in Hale County. Used to guide hunts there had a lot of success! Dad still lives there we were talking about starting back up. Populations seem to be recovering. The Lion's club and serveral other groops generally have hunts. very inexpensive. Get ahold of me and I'll try to get some more info.

My brothers wife grew up on a farm just west of Plainview about 7 miles. They used to host pheasants hunts on their property. Even had some of the Texas Rangers out. They said the coyotes have hurt the population greatly. I am sure the drought didn't help. We shot clays out there the weekend before Sept. 1 and could have shot several limits of dove by just aiming a few feet from the targets!

Hale Center ain't so bad.
I was just up at my brother's gin east of Plainview and there are a ton of birds in the area. Can't wait to get up there and chase them around with my shorthair.

The last couple of years up there we've seen mule deer while we were pheasant hunting. Around Hale Center and then we have a place at Happy Union and we've seen serveral there. Dad said a lady there in town hit a nice 10pt. on fm 400. That's pretty odd nothing up there but grain, cotton and crp.
